Just because you're over 30, it doesn't mean you lose any value you can give the team though. I think its a mistake to play players just because they might head off elsewhere. Not every player signed will see minutes at the Super level.

Woah there buddy! solid U20's form doesn't nearly equate to super rugby starts or even bench spots. Guys like oosthuisen or Faumuina would send him back in a matchbox. Orr should be in the Squad for another 2 years before he gets time, meanwhile have Ala'alatoa, a current young fringe player with the physique of a small Silverback, test the water. He'll either sink or swim, then we'll know. Holloway is the real replacement for Palu, Dennis can return to 6 and have Mumm (or Douglas apparently) in 2nd row with Skelton.
We need to pull a replacement scrumhalf out of our arse at the moment and some solid Centres for the future. not sure if Stewart will make the grade yet.

You have guys like James Slipper stepping up at a young age, which is not to suggest Orr can't do it, but its a big ask.

Suggest those plumming for Orr and/or Ala'alatoa have a look at what the Woods scrum did to them last week.

Weren't they against Uni last week? Either way a scrum doesn't rely solely n the props, Loholea is a pretty average scrummager on the other side... I was under the impression that both the Ala'alatoa's were pretty good, Allan has been solid for the ponies this season as far as young props go

No. They played the Woods and it was Alaatoa and Orr in the front row at the same time. Loholea played second grade.​

And agree that Alan is going well.​

The Pirates front row actually did ok at set-piece time, Pirates were winning game until intercept try on bell at half time.
Confidence then drifted in 2nd half and some individual skill and mistakes from the backs involved gave the Woods a decent win.
Also Games was carded very early on and Pirates went down a man for ten, when the more than held there own.

Were Pirates not a man down at that point? Perhaps not, either way I maintain that Alaatoa and Orr both played well and the Woods front rows did not dominated them. (but i might have been viewing the game through Red, Black and White tinted glasses)

Correct wamberal - Woodies loosehead going sideways destabilised the scrum, but the Pirates flankers weren't exactly contributing at that point anyway.
