At least sudrugby said "could" and not "would".
If he is going to the Top 14 the Waratahs and Wallabies will be affected, as hard bastard tight head locks are rare. Agen is struggling and could use him.
There should be no hint of criticism if he does go: it's not as though he's a born and bred Aussie rugby player who is leaving at age 26 - he didn't arrive in Oz until he was 19, and then he played rugby league.
His Wallabies credentials would have upped his price and since he is a bit of a journeyman already it could have been part of a career plan, and if that is the case good on him.
If he does go I shouldn't be surprised if Lopeti heads over there too. There's another brother, Sione, in Europe who has been with the Scarlets for a couple of seasons.
Maybe the brothers will start their Tongan version of the Tuilagi clan.

Qwerty, I am capable of remaining calm in the face of a firestorm but your post has me teetering on the edge! Have you any more info on the nature of those injuries? If they are major and not just minor aches and pains, then:
- We are in very deep do-do.
- AJ Gilbert is likely to get his second game in Super rugby.

Yeah Jamie, Terry Smith and I interviewed Cheika, Folau, Gilbert and Horwitz at the same time last Thursday so the quotes and stories were similar. Jamie and I (and the Tahs media intern) had recorders.

Yeah - Lopeti is in a kneebrace but said he would be OK after the Xmas break.
McCutcheon told me he had corrective surgery recently and won't be running until the middle of January. As I said in an earlier post: AJ Gilbert could be a standby reserve for Hooper - he has the attributes - or maybe Ale.
Sam Lane is running now and doing a few drills; Kingston and Foley are on light duties; Peterson has C3 damage but should be right by the end of the month.
In hindsight, I didn't see Fitzpatrick last week in the three sessions I was at.

He is definately not a player i would class as irreplacable

Timani is such a strange player. Most of us would define a Tighthead lock as a big fellow (even by professional 2nd row standards) who plays tight around the park, dominates the lineout, and scrums excellently.
Which Timani is big and scrums well, he is certainly not a tight player and is nothing too notable at lineout time. In fact, he is possible one of the loosest playing professional 2nd rowers in the game.
Whilst his merits are obvious (and I've listed them), I think his very contradictory skill set basically means you'd battle to find him a test locking partner that realy balances with him. Lord knows Sharpie certainly wasn't a good balance.
As such, perhaps his loss into that big for Aus rugby given the terrific variety of young locks we have coming through.
