For Clarity purposes - Vickerman is not due back till end of may so the last round of the comp so he wont be much help. I am hearing that the Redes game might be at ANZ can anyone confirm????

When will they learn. Stupid decision unless we can get 20-odd thousand qlders down to boost the crowd

It's a contractual obligation. ANZ coughs up cash to the NSWRU. Rumour has it that the deal won't be renewed when it expires (after this season, I think) because it drives the members nuts.

Thank the great gods of Hickey and Waugh.

The Tahs have obviously judged that Alcock is the better bet based on his one starting Super14 game against the Cheetahs in 2010 when Waugh was hurt. He had a terrific match.

Unless he stuffs up in the Tahs Twos games and/or the 2011 Shute Shield he will likely be on track to move into the contracted group when Waugh quits - joining McCutcheon. Alternatively Lam could blow everybody's socks of in the Shute Shield and supersede him.

As I have mentioned before: I rate Seilala and elder brother Jack and thought that there would be room for at least one of them at the Rebels. Maybe one of them will get a go when the 1 year Rebels foreigners go home.

The 'Rank the Aussie Props' thread got me thinking about the situation at the Waratahs.

My big concern is: what happens when Baxter is injured or rested?

From what I've seen, Kepu and Tilse are much better at Loose Head than at Tight Head. Is Ryan ready to start at Tight Head in a Super 15 match? Have either Kepu or Tilse improved their play at Tight Head to the extent that they are good enough to start a Super 15 match there?

I just finished the Anesi ruggapedia profile http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/forum/showwiki/Sosene+Anesi.

Check out his top flight point scoring abilities:
Chiefs - 5 tries in 41 games
All Blacks - in his one and only All Black game, not a single point in over 20 mins as a replacement for Carter in their 91 zip drumming of Fiji.
Waratahs - 0 tries in 12 games

Obviously not a great finisher despite being a winger/fullback. Why did we sign him again? I guess just to add back 3 depth in a longer Super 15 season maybe?

Name another winger/fullback still available in November who could start a S15 match in February?

I think he is no match winner but he is safe and experianced.

Aidan Toua, Alfi Mafi, Afusipa Taumoepeau, Dane Haylett-Petty, Ben Batger.

Don't limit it by saying November. The Tahs knew of this gap to fill. In the mean time Davies signed with the Reds, Mitchell and Betham signed with the Rebels, Shepherd signed with the Force.

Plenty of missed opportunities.

I agree there are others but Sipa has signed with the Rebels, Mafi did a deal with the Force some time ago despite the recent announcement and DHP has gone to France.

yes I know that, but they were all available and the Tahs opted to bypass them and eventually had to sign Anesi, I assume, as the last man standing.

Wallaby season over for 2010 and things look pretty good for the Tahs (although I'm a bit concerned about the THP situation - see above).

Robinson and TPN look to be going in the right direction. Barnes, Beale, Mitchell and Turner are all pretty much on fire. Palu and Waugh are back in training....the other big concern is the health and fitness of Rob Horne and depth at 13 as Cross looked good at 12 for the Force but not at 13 (maybe Shirvington can help with that).

I'm really looking forward to the Reds matches, and maintaining the winning steak against them (not to mention putting them in their place, again).

It's been getting a bit too cozy between the posters around here lately. I can't wait for the provincialism of 2011 to ramp up.

Ah well, us Rugger fans are blessed with far less of an off-season then our Aussie Rules and League counterparts so we can hardly complain.

Aren't the Leaguies in full flight contemplating and pondering what antic one of their mob is going attempt to be the next media extravagance of "The Greatest Game of All". I mean, by lowering the bar constantly, they have quite a high level to which to aspire.
