I think he's been really underwhelming this season, but agree he's been better lately. IMO, not good enough to come into the Wallabies frame. I suppose that could change, but geez he needs to cut out the lazy penalties that gift the other team points or possession. Coming in at the side, flopping off his feet -- all that stuff is too costly.

Kepu is a proven pretender at test level though. Fair play to him because its not like we had other blokes who were any better, but I think now we do.

Yeah, he was in much better form two years ago as well. He should be really pushing for a spot, but I think he'll only play if there's a few injuries.

I would guess under the new rules (2 prop reserves - it is in now??? ) that the issue issue is back up LHP

Robbo Vs Jenkins I see as a battle between peers that either could lose on a scrum by scrum basis

But Robbo's back up? I just don't know

I would assume Palmer, Alexander, Ryan & Slipper are the THP options,

I think you could even consider the S15 combinations

Start with alexander, moore, palmer and finish with robinson, nau & slipper

I would also consider Ryan myself instead of Slipper (ducks as cannons start to fire about bias from up north), I think he looks very, very good at scrum time and his work around the field is impressive

I can see Deans considering Robinson and Alexander as his two best props overall. Aside from Palmer, I think Alexander showed in 2012 that he is no worse at scrum time than Slipper or Kepu at THP and offers more around the field than both (only marginally ahead of Slipper).

I'm expecting Robbo and Alexander to spend the most time on the field so I think they'll start. I expect we'll see Palmer and Slipper or Kepu on the bench. Slipper or Kepu will end up being the LHP reserve.

What's this about ducks?

Kepu is an average LHP

Pek Cowan has been in good form all year at LHP and offers a fair bit around the ground as well as solid scrummaging, but I doubt he'll get a look in since he's at the Force.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Cowan is okay, Salesi Manu might be the next big thing.

In terms of LHP I think Alexander and Robbo are ahead of Cowan, maybe Slipper too (although I see Slipper as a better TH option. Not sure we need a third specialist LHP. but i agree he has been playing very well and I wouldnt be upset if he was included in the squad

It's reportedly said by masters of the dark arts the most important member of a rugby team is the THP, closely followed by the reserve THP. What would I know?

Anyways, it looks like we're reasonably well stocked in THPs in Oz rugby ATM. (Grabs another drink as he writes that!). Surprisingly, we seem to be a bit skinny on LHPs after Robbo, every team's got a couple but none stand out. Whom should we throw to the Lions if Fat Cat goes down? It'd seem those next in the queue (Alexander, Kepu and Slipper) are ambidextrous in the propping arts, but not masters in the number 1 jumper. Discuss.

Slipper and Alexander are the clear standouts for me when it comes to work rate and impact around the field.

If I recall correctly the scrum battle between the reds and tahs was very even, if not even edged towards Qld. I can't see how Ryan can be picked ahead of Slipper.

I would add that Sio needs to be exposed to training in the Wallabies squad. Not played in a test but exposed to training with the squad.
