Well if I was picking 6's for Australia, it would be Higgers and Mowen, they both play at 8 but both fit what robbie wants from a 6

He definitely would. He's ahead of Rathbone on that showing and about on a level with Tomane. In saying that, I wasn't serious about him for the Wallabies just yet. EOYT for sure.
Is this a prediction as to who would be picked out of the 2 of them or are you saying Betham is ahead of Rathbone in your opinion?
If the latter then you're entitled to that view.
If the former it's ridiculous.
Betham made a number of simple errors and did some good things. He looked better than he objectively was because the Tahs are a woeful mindless mess. The ways in which he looked good will not translate to test match rugby. He played largely as a hybrid backrower with a permanent blindside wing spot.
Just like turner played dummy half.
It's very dangerous I think to translate anything resembling a spark within the Tahs ranks to true quality just at the moment.
Paddy Ryan is the only Tahs who deserves a call up, IMO.

I thought Genia looked good for his first 40 last night. The Reds were worse when he went off. Having him and White in the squad strengthens the 9 spot.

McMeniman was great. He needs to be in the squad.

Alfi Mafi has really impressed me this year. Seems to be able to find the try line which is what you want from your wingers.

QC (Quade Cooper) should not be in the wallaby squad, let alone the run on team, based on his form form last year and this - he really needs to lift his game immeasurably.

To be fair and only pick on super rugby form from this year (which was the opening premise of this thread) I would be hard pressed picking any player outside of the Brumbies at the moment.

The rest are pretty much average, or worse.

Even more so since this weekend's matches! You know it makes sense.

I hope the Force eventually look at Godwin as a 10. IMHO he is the closest thing we've had to Stephen Larkham.

Only when he can goal kick

Heh, heh.

We saw Cooper 'underplaying his hand' for the first few games and the reds were able to scrape a few wins. He's hardly kicking the selectors door in with the rubbish on display last night. If the best that he can do is be invisible he can do that off the field.

what happened to the ascendant Quirk? 1 game from McMeniman in 10 years and the guys international career is over.
People say I'm a hard marker:rolleyes:

I like that team, and I'd definitely have G Smith in there, he is still one of the best 7 in world rugby, could we get more value out of gill at 7, and smith at 6.

Interesting 6 months ago there was a strong argument the hooper should hold his position over pockock, and now he is doing nothing wrong in an under performing team. 6 gill, 7 poey, 8 smith,

I like genia 9, cooper 10, taps 12, BUT you can't ignore the form to date of the above players.

The pecking order as i see it currently

1. Ben Alexander / Robinson / Cowan
2. Stephen Moore / TPN / Fainga'a / Hansen
3. Alexandar / Slipper / Palmer
4. Hugh McMeniman / Douglas / Timani
5. James Horwill / Scott Fardy / Simmons / Carter
6. Ben Mowen / Higgers / Kimlin / Cotrell / McCalman / Dennis
7. Liam Gill / Hooper / Alcock / Smith
8. Palu / Auelua / Mowen
9. Genia / White / Phipps
10. Lilo / To'omua / Beale / Cooper
11. Ioane / Tomane / Mafi
12. Tapuai / Lilo
13. McCabe / Fainga'a / AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. O'Connor / HB / Speight
15. Beale / Mogg / O'Connor

My 22 at the moment

1. Alexander
2. Moore
3. Slipper
4. McMenimun
5. Horwill
6. Mowen
7. Gill
8. Palu
9. Genia
10. Lilo
11. Ioane
12. Taps
13. McCabe/ANT
14. O'Connor
15. Beale
16.TPN
17.Robinson
18.Palmer
19.Douglas
20.Hooper
21.Fotu
22.White
23.AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)

The lock pairing of MMM/Horwill could be epic. If I was going for a 5/3 split id leave out Fotu and Douglas and pick Peter Kimlin. He's in sensational form, he's big but mobile and can cover lock and backrow.

I know Goerge Smith is still finding form again at this level (so he may not have hit top form yet) but no way he has been as good as Gill has. Smith was pretty good against the sharks but didn't stand out particularly. Gill has been, pretty clearly, the Reds' best player for three or four weeks running.

Re your comment about genia/cooper/taps I certainly wouldn't have cooper on current form but Taps has been in good form (in fact he was one of the standout players for me last night against the force) and genia looked impressive in his 40 minutes given that he hadn't played for 6 months.
