Living regionally myself I rarely get to the games so I really appreciate the chance. I got my tickets in the pre-offer for the whole family. 8 hour round trip to the game and back to work wednesday, but can't wait.

8 hour round trip! RESPECT!!

Name your two teams...
I like the back lines in both teams but I think the forwards I would swap 4-8 the I don't think we can have 4 forward debutants against wales.

I don't care much for trying to limit game time or worrying about players backing up. We see year in year out with origin that it can be done

I think Pocock is a certainty to start both tests.

I think Sharpe and Simmons are almost certainties to start against Scotland and possibly one will sit out the Wales test and Pyle, Timani or Douglas will get a start.

I think Higgers will play against Scotland and Dennis against Wales.

Looking forward to seeing how Ant Fainga'a goes against the Scottish front row. Does he have to wear a dreadlocks wig to do it?

Fair point on the 4 debutants against Wales, I could shuffle some of those around to improve that - although I get less of my "just for fun" combinations which was the point of the post.

I believe Deans has said he will have (for the most part) different starting packs, but that several of the backs will back up. It is possibly harder for the forwards to back up than the backs.

The State of Origin analogy can be made but it's not so straight-foward as you might suggest. The Broncos know more about it than most and they don't make players back up anywhere near as much as the old days.

The issue with swapping 4-8 is that all five of those players will have played a few days before (and the whole starting eight if you keep the Brumbies front row). Having all 8 starters in the pack playing 3 matches in 7 days is a bad idea, IMO. If some have to back up, some others should be kept relatively fresh.

Agree with this, except for Pocock. I'd prefer to see the openside flanker play for a full 80 minutes in both matches. The bench backrower will be better suited to covering 6/8 (and there's usually no room for a substitute fetcher-type player these days).

Hooper deserves a cap IMO, and they won't lose much at all by playing him in one of the tests. Pocock would still be in the box seat for tests 2 and 3 against Wales. No need to overplay him now; there is plenty more rugby to come this year.

maafu a sure thing at 3 - Palmer untested and Deans won't risk the deficiences in his game in the test arena. Maafu, particularly in last couple of tests has improved heaps (from where he started). Pocock to be captain but IMO Genia a much better choice. Shame about Horwill - looks like a 3-4 month recovery (not 3-4 week)

Scotland
1. Slipper (cowan or holmes would've been perfect for this role over Ma'afu)
2. Fainga'a (would have preferred Hanson)
3. Palmer (ask jake to rest him, he said he would) or Ma'afu (vomit)
4. Simmons or perhaps Timani (foley might rest/bench him if asked, the tahs are finished anyway)
5. Sharpe
6. Higgers
7. Bam (taken off when/if the game is locked up, ideally at 40-50 mins)
8. Big Dog

9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Diggers
12. McCabe (as per palmer)
13. Fainga'a
14. Shipperly or Morahan (simply because they're reds and fresh)
15. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) or Mogg

16. Moore 17. Alexander 18. Pyle 19. Hooper 20. Phipps 21. Harris 22. one of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Tomane, Vuna, Foley or Mogg

Wales (This 22 should basically sleep in a cryogenic/hyperbaric chamber from tuesday night on.
1. Robinson
2. Moore
3. Kepu
4. Sharpe
5. Simmons
6. Dennis
7. Bam
8. Higgers

9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Diggers
12. McCabe or Horne
13. Horne or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. whichever outside back acquits themselves well vs Scotland or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
15. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) or Morahan or Mogg

16. TPN 17. Alexander 18. Timani or Pyle 19. Hooper 20. White 21. Barnes 22. whoever is left from the starting team

Wallabies to win vs scotland because of a magnificent chip and chase try from higginbotham, and then win again vs wales because of excellent driving forward play with the backs doing almost nothing but defend all game bar one sublime Quade and diggers try that puts the game beyond reach.
