Anyone travelling to the game tomorrow night. The parking at Hunter Stadium is sold out. Alternatives:
- Park at Newcastle Entertainment Centre ($7) 10 minute walk. Opens at 4:30pm
- Park at Lambton Swimming Pool. Shuttle buses every 10 mins
- there may be street parking but I have no idea of the area.

I noticed the ARU have removed the all broadcasters from their Wallabies website pages... Is Channel 9 TV actually a Wallabies sponsor? because you type wallabies into the channel nine search engine and it comes up with "did you mean Wales"... I take it theyre got broadcasting the match free to air... nice work ARU! broadcast the sport please on free to air for rugby tests, what a complete bunch of jokers...

And another thing - its my seat at the ground under cover? I have no clue. Thank God for that Dri-As-A-Bone I picked up at Vinnies for $8.
.

Where are you located Lee, take a look at a few of these links & you might see whether there is cover or not.

Looking at the first link I'm in the red bit, Bay 5 row 0000J Seats 13-14 (with Ma) in the Andrew Johns/East Grandstand. I don't think we have cover, I'm not sure going by the picture whether the shelter goes that far. Luckily like you I have my Drizabone full length coat myself (though I wish I got it for as cheap as you did!). I have not been at the stadium since its been 'done up' but I'm glad to see they did not get rid of the grass hills either side for seats & concrete.

I'll look for you at the game Lee. I'll be there with the family on the Western side, hoping for a break in the weather for the game, but like my hopes for the Tahs likely to be in vain.

Looks like you'll be opposite to where I am. You'll still probably be able to see & hear the ruckus from across the ground. We have at least 80 players with friends, family, etc in one big group.

Oh good, just like the tour game against Munster EOYt 2010. That was a wonderful experience, much learnings to be had for all.

Yes. And didn't BB play at 10 in that match?

Btw, if the winds are as severe as forecast, tries and possession will be the keys as kicking will be a lotto-like nightmare...and this stadium is largely open-ended to the posts.

Here's a couple of places to type into google maps (for some reason can't get the links to work):

1) Perth rd Broadmeadow to Hunter Stadium Broadmeadow NSW (this is an 11min walk approx)

2) Sunnyside Tavern, Broadmeadow Road, Broadmeadow, New South Wales to Hunter Stadium Broadmeadow NSW (this is roughly a 14min walk & there is usually street parking around the nearby Smith Park)

Hamilton Harps women's team will be at the Sunnyside from 5:30pm Tuesday for pre-game drinks. I'll be at the Hunter Stadium instead as the Wallabies will be meeting fans there from 6pm.

As far as the squad goes I'm pretty happy with the line-up. Solid front row. I would of had Pyle or Carter ahead of Siteleki Timani but I don't mind seeing him have another go. With Sharpie it's great to get to see him play live (well, not on TV) at least once before he hangs up the boots in the not too distant future. David Pocock - quite literally worth the price of admission. Higgers I hope will bring some of his loose play into the game to prevent things getting dour, he could light things up. Dennis has worked his ring out & deserves his spot. Inside backs are solid. I'd really like to see Barnes have a great game. Very excited to see Diggers on one wing, Tomane on the other, & Morahan at the full back - only concern I have is whether the weather will prevent these players from getting enough quality ball. The reserves are pretty good, say what you will about Saia but he is def a fan fav going by the comments about him here in Newcastle - he'd be a crowd fav. A little disappointed to not see Nic White on the bench as he's a local. Mowen a bit unlucky but wasn't he just brought in?

The weather forecast Tuesday from the Newcastle herald is: 8-16deg, rainy & windy, cloudy. Isolated showers developing around dawn, increasing to rain by early evening. Winds W 40 to 60 km/h turning S/SW 50 to 70 km/h near the coast later.

Add to the fact that its been pissing down most of the weekend & early this morning it certainly is going to be wet.

Ma said something about apparently we are going to get soon the same kind of weather that beached the Pasha Bulker during the floods, joy.

I couldn't care less about the rain in terms of personal comfort, I love the rain. I'll have my full Drizabone & I'll be watching my first Wallaby test at an actual ground here in my own backyard. The only thing that could ruin it is that I have Ma on one side of me who really loves Richie Gray ("Oh he's gorgeous!" she'd say every time we'd see him during the World cup), on the other side is a mate following Scotland (& she hates the Wallabies). If this is a dour affair like it was at Murrayfield then sitting between these two could make for a painful 80min - never mind the rain!

There has been some tragedy in Newcastle Rugby recently with a very promising player losing his life in a car accident (more in the Newcastle Rugby thread). Hopefully this game can give those locally who are shocked at the recent event, a bit of a chance to escape from whats happened, if only briefly.

If I were Scotland I would be putting up midfield bombs until the cows come home, and targetting Tomane and Morahan at the back.

The again i would probably do that if I was Australia as well.

In the end our forward pack should be vastly superior to theirs, so hopefully we can keep it tight and rumble it up all day.

What do we think is the overs/unders line on dropped balls by Sitaleki "Concrete Hands" Timani?

I'll go with 2.5 if it's dry.

If it's wet, 3.5 and for him to get subbed just after half time to stem the bleeding.

Hmm. With winds (currently) forecast for anywhere between 50km ph and 90km ph in the evening, lots of bombs and open field kicks might present a risky strategy for both teams. In these conditions I'd prefer a possession-is-king biassed game plan and grinding forwards work in phases up the field, perhaps a la the type of try-finding work the Reds' forwards achieved in 2H v Chiefs.

If you want that game plan, we'd better tell Genia not to throw it near Barnes. Kick kick kick will be what is going through his head!

That is the mother of all worries in conditions like this, and his S15 kicking in open play has been hardly purposeful and pin point even in mild conditions.

The theory that BB is so much better a player in Tests - partly as he has better backs available, etc - will be exquisitely tested tomorrow night. Let's hope it's right.

One more thing: with Totality Tony as senior dog in the remodelled coaching group coupled with his excellent knowledge of these types of conditions, I will be intrigued to see if we can deduce any impact he may have in this Test vs Deans' pre TT era.

Things you may not know about the Scotland side: (you may as well be aware, but I don't think I've seen them mentioned)

Hogg runs fast. And scores tries. More likely to run around a player than trough him. Good kicking as well. He's 19 and is likely to stick around the Scot setup for a while.

Ansbro Lamont and De Luca run straight. They don't pass very often.

After the 6N, some people were (in internet forums) wondering whether Ross Rennie was the in-form openside, thinking about the Lions in 2013. Ahead of Warburton. (a bit far-fetched in my view, but a signal that he had played well).

Gray is a likely Lions starter. The first Scot in a while to be one of the first in the side when speculating about it a year in advance.

Ford can be a nighmare in the breakdown. He's, IMO the best hooker in the british isles.

The Scottish lineout is exceptional. Their scrum is decent when Murray is on (which is anytime bar sundays).

Denton was also in exceptional form during the 6Ns. Their pack as whole met parity with the other 6Ns sides and it was their backs that let them down with a lack of tries and imagination in the backline. I think atm their pack is looking better than ours.

Tomane and Ioane are our threats. Using them in the predicted conditions with this backline? Not so sure.
