Happens occasionally ;)
Kinda, agree with most of that but Godwin is more than emergency cover..he's the only genuine 12 in the squad

If that even means anything anymore.

Doubt whether he'll be thrown in against the Boks. Options ahead of him at 12 are (at least) Foley, Kerevi, or TK.

But the squad experience will be valuable.

It's a move to get them running in the systems. Morahan is the only one likely to get near a match day XXIII at this stage the only "Winger" we've got is a busted old bloke with a smattering of French.

Sefa isn't even eligible until after Perth, and Godwin is there for squad experience with an eye on November. Emergency injury cover a pinch

You'd think Goodwin would actually be a decent chance to start at 12 given he's the only man left standing who plays in that position regularly.

I'd rather him then Foley at 12.

Kerevi is a 12 and Hodge can play 12. Seeing that To'omua is off to Europe and has under the 60 caps and Giteau is most likely going to hang up the test boots we had better unearth some new faces. Of course KB (Kurtley Beale) is a special for 12 if fit and available.
I hope we do not persist with Foley at 12.

Godwin and Morohan?

I know it's because of injuries, but are they really the next best players in their respective positions..

I reckon Morahan has been very good in the NRC. First game obviously moreso.

Godwin, I agree with your sentiments.

I have no real concerns about any of the later inclusions. We certainly need some wing cover after losing both Horne and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), and with question marks hanging over DHP. Good to see Sefa included though he won't be eligible for the Bokke test on Saturday. Godwin's form has been patchy, but there is no other No 12 available so it is understandable that he has been recalled to the squad. Arnold's return is good news.

From this squad, I'd like to see the following team go against SA.

Slipper, TPN, Kepu, Douglas, Arnold, Fardy, Pocock, Timani, Genia, Cooper, Hodge, Kerevi, Kuridrani, Morohan, Folau.

Reserves - Hanson, Sio, Robertson, Coleman, McMahon, Phipps, Godwin, DHP.

Of course, we won't see a team like that put together. It will look more like:-

Sio, Moore (c), Kepu, Douglas, Coleman, Fardy, Hooper, Pocock, Genia, Cooper, Morohan, Foley, Kerevi, DHP, Folau.

Bench : TPN, Slipper, Ala'alatoa, Simmons, Mumm, Phipps, Hodge, Speight.

BR
agree with most, particularly giving bench spots to Chibba, Robertson and McMahon.
Reckon DHP would be considered lucky to make the 23.

BUT what team do YOU think Chek will actually select ?

Why Arnold over Coleman? I thought Coleman looked more up to Test level then Arnold, plus Arnold returning from injury probably better as a bench option.

Here's a better question. Why not both in front of Douglas? (who I feel is a bit over-rated now).

Hodge

Stepped into the 10 jersey against Force in Rd 1 and scored 20 points. Think he would be able to cover if Cooper gets injured.

I don't think that's good enough cover for what is probably the most key position in the back-line. One super xv cap in the position doesn't make him a 10. JOC (James O'Connor) also played 10 for the Force and scored a lot of points and we all know how that ended up.

Like it or not Foley will be on the bench if not starting given he's the only other viable 10 option remaining.

Fair enough comment.

I think everyone had Douglas biro'd in to one of the lock spots after his return from injury.

Whilst he's been OK he hasn't set the world on fire. Reckon he will hold that spot for a while yet with Chek hoping for a return to great form.

I hope so as well.
