Also, on what planet is Hanigan 110kg?

I checked:
Wikipedia.
Waratahs.
ARU web site.

They're consistent, no doubt pushed but consistent. The Safer figures also from Wikipedia so you'd imagine a similar trend in terms of exaggeration.

The measuring of Aus rugby players has long been very rubbery. I remember chatting eye to eye with an ex-Wallaby back a few years ago who was always listed as 183cm tall. Which I am not!

Speaking of weight.

The Bokke's latest cunning plan will be to bring Pollard on as a prop.

Ili Tabua the Human Skewer.
I remember him well.
I met him once when I was working in Coffs Harbour and the Wallabies were doing a camp there late 1994. At the pub with some mates and much of the squad came into the place for a night "off" and a few drinks before social media knew their every move. Tabua was a really nice fella. But he and Daniel Manu were very large humans up close!

Well, you guys focus on weight and all of that among yourselves.

Meanwhile there is a test match coming up where the Wallabies are favourites for good reason historically.

Continue the bickering however, because that is evidently more important.

It not bickering, its called discussion and posters putting forward their own points of view (however misguided :) )

So forget all the issues surrounding the ARU, Cheika and Assistants, shit selections, win/loss ratios, damage being done to the Wallabies, the culture within and concentrate on the positives of the Test. Cannot see any positives at all to be frank.

Shit this game even if we win doesn't go anywhere near fixing the inherent problems facing the Wallabies (and Australian rugby in general). It would just put the dogs back in the kennel for another week or 2.

I think some Wallaby wins especially over the All Blacks would energise rugby supporters to do something to fix all the problems you listed.

You will win. Don't worry about that. It's more about the process and performance for us here as a team growing.

I agree since the World Cup Australian Rugby has been nothing more than a celebration of mediocrity. But at what point do we start to recognise the Wallabies are on an upward trend? If we beat the Boks away and NZ in Brisbane? Or does failing to win the Bledislode still count as a bad year for the Wallabies? I think it's important we put some actual parameters down on what constitutes an improvement for the Wallabies otherwise we go into every game thinking it is unimportant in the larger scheme of things. Personally for me this means if we don't lose another match in the RC we've had a good year at test level and things are definitely on the up. If we win every match except vs ABs we've had a fair year but are still off the pace and improvement is slow.

Results are better evaluated with hindsight. If you set down arbitrary requirements (say we must beat SA home and away) for it to be a good season and it doesn't happen because we cop a couple of red cards or the heavens open and we lose by a point or some other factor then maybe it will still be a good season because we win every game thereafter.

After its over then we can decide if the season was good. More important is the evaluation each week "Did we play well?" "What did we need to do better?"

Agree there can be some extenuating circumstances in which we can still play well and lose. I'm more talking about if under normal circumstances we win the rest of the games in the Rugby Championship we can consider it a good season. Obviously if we cop a Red Card in the first ten minutes and the 14 on the field give the performance of their lives to go down by 3 against the All Blacks in Brisbane it can still be considered an excellent performance. I think that when most teams, and certainly all the ones that I've been involved in, sit down at the start of the season and talk about what they want to achieve they set it out under normal circumstances. I can't imagine the Wallabies saying 'we want to win the Bledislode but we'll take a loss if some circumstances disadvantage us.' Given this I think it's entirely fair for us as supporters to nominate what we believe a good season Wallabies season would look like and in hindsight amend the judgment if extenuating circumstances should present themselves.
