The front row of Slipper/Moore/Kepu is a bit concerning. If the SlipMorePu combination goes down...your in a world of shit. Childish..hell no :D
Isn't it slip-or-pu? Though it seems most would rather slip-lota-pu or slip-an-pu. Hell, if we have another hooking injury crisis Fainga'a may have to play, then we'll really have slip-in-pu.

I don't get this. We should discard a winger who's played 3 Tests in a shitty backline, but we should persist with Foley? What form does he have to justify selection? - he's been a liability in 6 out of 7 of the last tests, and DHP? who's let in tries in nearly every test this year apart from one.

Sometimes it's fair to pick the lesser worst player. Especially as your post resembles moving forward, wouldn't it be more "moving forward" to drop Foley and start Hodge at 12, thus leaving Speight on the wing.
If you drop foley who is your goal kicker? Quade?
Any idea who the ref will be for this one? Know it seems silly but how the breakdown will be reff'd seems a factor in this back row decision.

Feel like going back to Fardy, Pocock and Hooper again with Fardy to help with increased physicality from Argentina, and potentially negate some rolling mauls (haven't seen enough of them to know how effective the argies are with these.).

Most likely Speight will not come in but we are really lacking in genuine pace out wide. Both DHP and Hodge have done a good job and have long futures with the Wallabies but probably not on the wing.

Agree - they are warming some spots imo. If Koroibete is not one of our wingers by 2017 I will be gobsmacked. Pure speed and class and union background...ok not played it for 8 years but on the wing and something about like riding a bike.

Don't like Foley at 10 but definitely warming to him at 12 and definitely not discounting his value longer term as bench option. Beale has the 12 sown up at this point when recovers from injury. Not also discounting Hodge.

Foley's goal kicking is very hot and cold. Not enough to warrant his place in the starting side when both Quade and Hodge offer goal kicking skills as well. On his day, Quade is as good as Foley and on his off days Foley is as bad as Quade.

Foley is a better goal-kicker than Quade, as was established by Cheika prior to the WC and part of the reason he got the nod ahead of Cooper. Hodge isn't a consistent goal-kicker, he can just punt a ball from the T 80 bloody meters in roughly a straight line.

The probably Pumas starting XV for the game in Perth:

15 Joaquin Tuculet
14 Gonzalez Amorosino
13 Matias Moroni
12 Gonzalez Iglesias
11 Santiago Cordero
10 Nicolas Sanchez
9 Tomas Cubelli
8 Facundo Isa
7 Juan Leguizamon
6 Pablo Matera
5 Matias Alemmano
4 Ortega Desio
3 Ramiro Herrera
2 Agustin Creevy (c)
1 Tetaz Chaparro

Naivalu will be available for the next game in SA. That's the answer

14. Santiago Cordero
.
.
.
11. Lucas González Amorosino (he's lefty, very lefty)

Yes Quade or Hodge.

Which ain't even an issue given how inconsistent Foley is at goal-kicking.

May be considered slightly better, but hardly enough to keep him in the squad. He is so hot and cold, but then again that's the same with Quade's goal-kicking. So it's not like we a dropping an 80% goal-kicker, we're dropping a 70% one.

Foley will certainly be on the bench anyway, which means he'll be goal-kicker for the last 20mins, probably the player taking a pressure kick to win the game if it came to it.

Foley won't be dropped, his ability to slot into 10 gave Cooper the space out wider on a number of occasions

Upon reflection, Chek being Chek he will probably have the same team. Sure there is the argument of being consistent and trying to build certain combos (which I agree with - particularly the Genia / Cooper and Foley one)

To me, he could improve the team by a few changes but he won't for some weird reason.

Mobility will be the key for us this week and trying to stop the Pumas unbelievable passing game.

No if your offering speight as the only alternative given can't kick and showed very little in attack in any game I have watched for some time I would probably still persist with the current crowd personally. As speight has just been woeful. With a view to looking to other newcomers that will shortly be available as potential replacements ie. the Rebels Fiji wingers for next year who will be more likely candidates to fill the problematic wing spot.

And for that matter on foley - sorry other than those 2 intercepts he actually showed some promise there and hodge is just not ready for 12 yet imo so keep him on the wing for the moment.

I'm confused. Speight has been woeful? He's at least made his tackles, showed little on attack but hardly a liability.

Compared to DHP who's let in 4? 5? tries on his wing. Speight has a history of being a great attacker, and he's slowly getting back to form, a seven stint would have done him well.

Yes and Foley, who after 6 poor games of leaking tries, falling off tackles, kicking horrible he finally showed a glimpse of promise, a glimpse, not a solid game, a bloody glimpse. Still managed to leak a try with an intercept and not only that, failed to learn from his mistake and make the same bloody mistake again!

Fair enough you ain't rating Speight's attack, but what I find strange is the inconsistent bias, why is Foley and to a lesser extent DHP not put in the same view when their poor performances have been much worse? Is it just cos they showed a glimpse of attack? Defence is half the game too!!!

And in form, Speight is a better attacker then both of them. (if he can ever get back to his 2013/2014 form).

Well that probably depends. You can probably find a time span where he's at 70%, but he kicked at 78% for the soup season and hes at 89% so far this RC.

This mob use an algorithm taking into account difficulty etc and he's rank 2nd in the RC.

He's ranked second out of only 4 teams and after only 3 games.

On average he's a 70% kicker, all kickers will have outliers of kicking above or below. But his usual standard is rarely over 80%.

Please don't assume he's a great kicker because he simply isn't. He is the best in the wallabies squad - I agree there. But hardly good enough to keep for that reason.

Why can't Hodge do this? Passing not up to it?

Hodge isn't going to be moved in his second starting game, he will be used exactly as he was in the last game.

Cheika said in the press conference one of the things he was happy with was the way Cooper and Foley were working together; and if you go back and watch the game Cooper and Foley swapped spots throughout the game to good effect, as do Foley and Beale and I expect Cooper and Beale may in the future.

You can posture however you like, Foley is our best spot kicker and that gets you halfway into a team. Combine that with his 2014-15 form and hes 75%. Finally, no shining alternatives mean his place is more or less guaranteed. Yeah he's playing terribly, but once again we are forced to face the fact that there really arent many alternatives.

Just tell Foley to let Quade do the long cut out passes. Foley can do the pop passes and inside balls for all I care.
