If that were true we would've seen more kicking in his last 2 performances, but we didn't.....

Ergo, bullshit.

The simple fact is, the coach directly instructed them to play the game up the other end as they were struggling for clean ball and the French defence were all over our backs....

Considering White has the strongest boot in our backline, that task largely fell to him.....

Even Folau kicked the ball more times than he probably has all year...
No doubt the team were under instruction to kick more especially with the static ball.
My main criticism was the few opportunities where the Wallabies managed turnover ball with a disorganised French defence he tended to kick it.
Surely the potential risk/reward profile favours running the ball rather than White kicking it (not accurately mostly) and then the French returning the ball deeper to one of our back 3 and we just start again. A Phibbs/Genia would be more likely to use the opportunity to run the ball..

That's a nice hypothetical based on assumption, but I've seen Genia poorly kick away so much good ball that it's far from being fact..........

Oh well, Genia's injury solves a potential headache I guess. Will is a fine player but so are White and Phipps and I don't think it is going to do us any harm at all to give them the experience. If Will is good enough to get his spot back for RWC 2015 then he will..

Fuck me, some (only some) of you QLDers must struggle getting up in the morning with the size of the chips on your shoulders.

Genia has been crap (and it sounds like crocked) all year. White is the form Aussie 9, with Phipps not far behind. When Genia has been good in the past, everyone on this board has been very heavy in their praise -- its selective memory to think that most here wouldn't have agreed he was the best or close to the best 9 in the world in 2011.

Certainly there are trends of thinking around here, but the idea that everyone is out to get the QLD players with their nasty double standards is so boring it's not funny.

That will be the last comment of yours I read, one can only digest so much dirge.

Why is the High Up and Under not part of Folau's repertoire yet? His aerial ability is almost unmatched, and a number of his kicks which aimlessly drifted towards the right winger could have become great attacking opportunities if he had done that instead.

Furthermore, did Foley win the contest for least amount of touches by a fly half? A very invisible and poor performance. Didn't even make himself available to kick and seems to lack distance when he does connect.

Plan seemed to bet let Foley go on the running plays when the forwards deliver ball. As you pointed out, they didn't. So Foley's running game got negated.

Most of the kicking was left to To'omua (which didn't happen as much as I would have liked last week) and White. Both of them were fucking shit at it around 80% of the time. All very nice to criticise people for having a "pop gun" boot (which Folau clearly doesn't, but don't let the truth get in your way), but if you're packing a howitzer then fucking execute.

Who's this Phibbs guy I keep hearing about. Sounds like a go getter, maybe they should bring him into the Wallabies.

I know, it's hard to take the opinion of someone seriously if they don't even know the correct name of the player they are issuing a critique on!!

Did anybody else think that Izzy was found out a lot out of position by the French kicking game?

Well, they found space. Given there are 2 or 3 players back mostly and it was 2 of Cummins, White and Folau mostly, there's a lot of open space. I don't know whether it's him being out of position, the kickers just being smarter (the French kickers seemed to have a fair bit of time to assess where to put it much of the time - maybe our kick-chasers were a bit shit??), or some of both. I think probably the latter.
But short answer, yeah, they got it away from him a bit. He did field a lot of kicks, though.

On a couple of the forcings back, Izzy was out of position because he was the ball runner, and on a previous play one of the wingers was supporting him.

We got the ball, and turned it over through a poor kick (which another winger probably chased), and the French kicked to the resulting space.

Lack of awareness from the entire backline.

Right, brace yourselves Queenslanders, because I just watched a replay:

Simmons had a decent game.

Yep, he still sauntered over to a couple of rucks and stood there with a hand on the nearest Wallaby, and still didn't impose himself the way I think he can for a guy that size.

But I can't fault his scrum work behind Kepu, and he got the lineout calls right 90% this time against a more aggressive French 8. He can't be blamed for that lineout penalty just for once either.

Its a rare day when I'll ladle this sort of praise on, so enjoy it.

Yep. It looked to be a directive from above.
But it was poorly implemented and White was the main offender.

Google translate still obviously a work in progress

Unfortunately, the longer the sentence the less accurate google translate is as it translate words rather than meaning and has no ability to take colloquialisms or sports jargon.

I''l never forget an e-mail I received once from a French friend who was coming to Australia. He was looking forward to walking on the beach with naked feet. (The word for bare and naked is the same in French - the translation depends on the context):)

Link said in one of the snippets of him live "you're not respecting the opposition".

I am sorry to say this because I am a firm believer in his ability, but Link you did not respect our players ability.

Your game plan was to kick out of our territory on every occasion, why?
Do you think the players not capable of varying their play even slightly?

On front foot ball it didn't matter... kick
Regardless of the French position... kick
Even when we were executing poorly... kick

Why did you not trust in your our players? Why couldn't you have mixed it up even a little?

I understand that you tailor each game depending on the opposition. But this really seamed to reflect a lack of confidence in your team, and that perplexed me.

I get your comment here but this is something that plenty of other tight five players are guilting of. It needs to be looked at in the context of the phases before and after though. What lead up to it? Had he committed to a ruck which in the end we secured strongly without him and rather than just hang in the pocket he at least provided a block/shield for the half?

But also, what happened next phase? Did he use this position to his advantage and get to the very next ruck if it was one or two passes off? Or did he treat it like his job was done and have a blow for a phase?
