See my earlier posts on Kurtley Beale. Has already made some errors making him look like a headless chook as I predicted. But I'm sure he will start to do some good things tonight as well. Test match rugby isn't like Super 14, even against Fiji.

How slow and loopy are Burgess' passes? The guy just doesn't have a test level pass, sadly.

Did anyone else notice that they had Giteau and Cooper practising place kicking on their "bad" side, which for Giteau is on the left side of the field, being a left footer, and for Cooper, the right hand side of the field, being a right footed. There were a few games last year were Giteau missed a number of crucial penalty kicks on the left hand side of the field.

Coopers one kick was when gits was down. must be a coincidence

LHP: cowan, daley
THP: ma'afu, weekes

Burgess, against almost no pressure, was pants. Big clown pants. Will Genia is now our MVP, as he is so far ahead of the 2nd best, makes such a difference to the attack.

Mostly good hitout for the boys. The two things we need to see this season: (1) backs starting to trust each other (2) forwards getting physical. One outta two ain't bad.

Our forwards were just rubbish

Here here, I'm getting a little worried about this. Backs are fine - when you have guys like Mitchell and J'OC on the bench, and Barnes, Hynes, Genia sitting on the sidelines waiting to come back in all is good here.

In the post game show they said one of the injuries is a grade 2 - which is 2-4weeks (6 at the worst), and this person will be back before TriNations - but I didn't catch who they were talking about, I reckon it must have been AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). Ben Alexanders looked like a season ending injury.

Yeh on Genia Scarfman, it is so important that he comes back into the team asap to keep his combo with Cooper - with all the other backs from tonight all coming from different provinces there was very little combination happening. Yes Burgess is a good defender, other parts of his game, the parts that are important as a scrumhalf, are severly lacking.

Our 2nd best isn't Burgess, its Valentine, and then Turner, and then Lucas. Burgess was hands down an embarrassment. Valentine really should have been picked ahead of him, after a far better series.

Shit first 20 minutes, loving Ioane on the wing, as well as AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). Hopefully that was just first run on test jitters for Kurtley. Mitchell looked good off the bench. English are going to be harder than expected this time next Saturday, I think our defensive effort around the fringes at times were 2nd rate.

I think this will be the last test we see in Canberra for a very long time, shitty crowd turn out. May as well have chucked it at the Gold Coast, or at the new Melbourne Stadium.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is ankle, Alexander is grade 2 medial ligament, so he was the 4-6 weeks one.

Valentine is one of the few haflbacks in the world who is (1) worse than Burgess, and (2) earning money at rugby.

I reckon you're partly right about England. They will be shit, but if they play a very direct / spoiling game, could really worry us.

Alexander will probably now miss half of the Tri-Nations now. How long is Robinson out for? Laurie Weeks and Ben Daley's time has come. The scrum tonight didn't seem that good. Lot's of stupid little resets.

EDIT:
Burgess tonight spent time telling the touchies and the ref about Fiji slowing the ball down and being on the wrong side. He needs to get the ball out, pass the ball accurately. Valentine at least has one of those talents.

The 2nd best halfback in the country is retired, Gregan, and we obviously have moved on. I'd honestly prefer to see someone like Stannard play, but it's too late as Robbie Deans has a definite crush on Burgess unfortunately.

Mate, if Stannard can pass a ball, he must be elevated to the squad. His 7s form shows him to be a very smart rugby player.

Bring on the Tripod for England, and get rid of Burgers for ever... And the New tripod for the Back line, Genia, copper and Git's.... Then watch the game open up.... I can't believe Burgers Stayed for the whole game and didn't put on Valentine.... Deans must have felt sorry for him and gave him the whole 80min as it will be his last ever... Burgers was the Problem for Tha Tarhs this year...
