DPK don't forget sookface he was vice captain last year over gits remember, maybe the wallabies should do a NSW origin side and put their captain on the bench.

Genia is an option in the future but not now, hes still only had 2 years of tests and is only 22, he has had a year of captaining the Reds though. He did express a disliking for the role though didn't he

Pocock would be awesome as wallaby captain but i still think he is a year or two away

Would love to see TPN captain the tahs soon he would be a funny captain

A last suggestion would be Kurtley beale as most people on here are smitten with him atm, he captained the aus schoolboys and seems like nice bloke maybe he should be captain

I have to say, I've been quite impressed with the way he interviews with the media; he's developed into quite an articulate and polite young man, which is one part of rugby I enjoy the best: it is both character revealing and character building.

You didn't watch the Rugby Club the other night?

Does anybody feel that Elsom has got anywhere near the form he displayed before heading north? Does anybody question whether captaincy is hampering him?

Don't know whether it's the captaincy, but something definitely seems to be hampering him. He hasn't come close to replicating his Leinster form and it looks like he's still carrying an injury - he can barely change direction when he runs and he seems to slow down a lot before hitting the line. Anyone else noticed this?

DPK i was also surprised with his interviews on the aru website although my suggestion was a bit of a wind-up

liquor box the only problem with robinson is that he is a bit small to be a forward captain,
it doesn't seem like it makes a difference but last year I captained my u16 team against other schools, i am a five eighth and 5 foot 10 and i always felt a bit stupid standing next to a 6 foot 4 second or back rower.

It definetly makes a difference and unless they are agressive go forward players like TPN, keith wood, Ledesma, Vickery etc I think a forward captain should be big

In saying that Rocky isn't small but he isn't a natural captain and it shows, they should hand the job to someone who has past experience or who deserves it like Sharpie, TPN, Pocock, Horwill

Right about now, Lee Grant is getting all misty and choking down the emotion... ;)

Yes!

I keep posting it, but it's just you and me, Jase. He has a limp. I think it's his right knee, but it's hard to tell. He seems to have had it since Ireland. And he was out with a knee injury for ages after Ireland, wasn't he?

You can tell that he can't hit the line, or rucks, or anything, with full force.

Shhhhssshhsh - dont tell Robbie or Jim. They havent noticed yet. Wouldnt want to ruin their reputations or anything like that.

Rocky looked knackered when he came back from Ireland last year and I believe that he had some sort of knee problem. I'd have thought that it would have been corrected by now, but perhaps not. It's a shame, because he's a bloody outstanding player.

As for Sharpie as captain: bring it on. I actually think he's become a better player since taking on the leadership at the Force. I think he'd make an excellent test captain. I used to think he was a bit of a seagull, but over the last two seasons he's done nothing but grow in stature in my opinion.

I agree, but I am totally looking forward to the first press conference where he drops the F word!

In that case, I put the case for Van Humphries. Sure, he's injured, but he only has to make a couple of tackles. And he will really liven up the motivational discussions.

I would seriously love to be a fly on the wall at half time and see why the Wallabies come out in 2nd halves and implode. I'm sure it is a contrast to what is happening in the Springboks changeroom.

Scarf, adding to this: I was incredulous when recently both Hynes and Ioane have come out and admitted they both came back from serious injuries in recent times, too soon and prior to a full, properly proven, recovery. Hynes knee, Ioane last major shoulder injury (before the latest one). Genia at Sydney was clearly impaired at knee (or somewhere lower leg) and should not have played there (I am still not sure he is 100% right even today). The Wallabies' medical staff, and thereafter the coaching staff, should _never_ let this happen, it only ever leads to grief and typically a worsening of the condition and a much longer out period. Then we had the madness of bringing TPN - known to have foot and ankle issues - back on a second time in Baa Baas 2, and he reported that these conditions had been badly aggravated in so doing (in fact I think he limped off). If Elsom is playing with a known injury and this is contributing to his deplorably mediocre performances (can his game stats get worse than the last Test?), this is just sheer stupidity when we know that we have issues of depth to deal with.

RH, 100% correct. Coming back to early from injury has been a disturbingly frequent occurrence with the Wallabies of late.

Coaches, trainers, physios or doctors?

Again, like when there were complaints about TPN playing hurt in the Super 14 this year, you guys have to remember that players are eager to play. They will play hurt it if means getting a chance to represent their country. Putting stuff on the line: you know, passion.

You must be fishing DPK ;-). It's the job of the senior medical and physio staff to prevent these factors driving an injured player to 'play for passion' when the result will be damaging - very damaging - for the team in that (a) they end up playing well below 100% with all the risks that entails (Genia, Sydney) and/or (b) the latent injury worsens and instead of being out for (say) 4 games, they're out for 12 (probably Hynes, etc). This may not make these 'policing' staff popular, but, in this case, being right is truckloads better than being popular. All this is doubly, triply, true when a code lacks easy replacement depth - in this case, you're better to take the injury-out hit now, than end up taking a far bigger hit later through unjustified aggravation of the injury.
