Wallabies 2025

Alrighty after the first 5 rounds, do we think there'll be any bolters for the Lions?

Tough games to debut into...

Also I think we had like 20 debutants last year so not sure who else is left to debut. I was going to say Canham and Reimer but I think they got capped already.

Maybe Massimo?

Bolters as in entirely uncapped?

Toole is probably the dark horse there, though there are a lot of wingers in contention. There's always a bit of a chance for props given it only takes an injury or two to open up a spot, and that's almost to be expected. De Lutiis on the tight head side, and probably Marley Pearce, Aidan Ross and maybe Fa'agase are all outside chance at loose head. If Schmidt is really serious about no departing players than CdC is a chance for the squad and possibly Lonergan finally gets a cap if Gordon is gone. There are some good uncapped hooker performances, particularly from Dolly and Asiata, but there are just too many capped guys going around I think they'll have to wait until after the lions.

For guys who are capped but didn't play last year I'd have Swain at the top of the list, he's going really well and should come right back into the reckoning. Lots of locks pushing their case though. Leota hasn't really impressed yet and Foketi has barely been sighted. Will be a tougher road ahead with the tahs for them to push their case from now. I think Porecki has a fair way to go to get back, but I think he'll be there as the 3rd string off the back of his experience and connection with Bell and Tupou. Need to see more from Schoupp, but he'll probably get the time as the season progresses, I'd expect he'll be called up before most of the uncapped loose heads.

I don't think we'll see bolters for the Lions. Capped players coming back in, maybe but I'd be surprised by any debutants tbh.

Dolly may in a contest for the 3rd Hooker spot and Rory Scott will push his case if he keeps up form.

I think the Wingers have locked themselves up between Jorgo, Pietsch, Potter and Daugunu's form has been awesome. Then Kellaway likely to be in the squad who started there on the Northern tour.

Incumbency would see Wright at fullback with Kellaway in that quasi-fullback role. I'd much rather see Jorgo take that spot on form so far this year, though. I think Daugunu makes sense for that strike winger role with Pietsch backing up (though I still sort of think it should be Sua'ali'i).

Wed be crazy not to pull in Aidan Ross straight away. As much as I loce Slipper, he isn't what he was and we're struggling for depth at prop.

Asiata has seemingly taken Nasers spot in the Reds. Given Poreki missed all of last year I can see it being a toss up between Asiata and Dolly.

Why don't we rate Vailanu again, he's a weapon.

I think he's an improvement on Nasser as well. I was surprised he got a Wallabies call up last year but Schmidt seems to have tested few guys v Wales and then made a call on them by the end of the year. Agree re Slipper. He's looking every bit his age now and his body just isn't getting done what it once could which is understandable.

Jorgo and Daugunu has a lot of strike about it which we will need. That natural freak.

Not sure he's eligible? I also think the he'd sit outside the group of Faessler, Pollard, Porecki, Lonergan, BPA then Asiata, Nasser, Dolly

Nasser's biggest asset is his scrummaging strength, it's right up there with BPA. I think that was a big part of his call up, particularly with our prop depth a bit tested last year.

Whoops didn't realise he wasn't an Aussie. I rate him higher than Porecki tbh.
I do at super level, but I also don't rate Porecki that highly. At test level I'm not so sure. Vailanu is definitely better around the ground, but he may not be able to make that count as much and his set piece inconsistency becomes much more of a problem

Pollard has been very good and probably ahead of Dolly but i'd say BPA and Fez still the top two 2s at the moment. Lonergan has bulked up and is playing tighter which is good, no matter what we are good with Hookers through the WC.
Uru was fantastic on the weekend, had the tahs scared and is surely in the conversation with CdC and Tizzano for the back-up roles. Helps that Uru he can play 4 if required.
Kellaway creates more when he roams and appears to be a leader and i think we are short of those in the backline, a calm voice directing players from the back will be invaluable with Jorgo on one wing and maybe Daungunu on the other throwing his weight around and belting Lowe every chance he gets.
McDermott, Donaldson/Lynagh, Jorgo, Lenny, JAS, Daungunu, Kells for me.
