Wallabies 2025

I reckon there is zero chance a dual Euro Champion Cup winning coach with 5+ years as an HC accepts a 2IC international role on the other side of the world. But I could be wrong

Cheika will be available again
Don’t think he’s the guy but
Cheika's approach appears to be having big pigs continually bashing one up, chasing that front foot ball to get in behind the retreating defence. It worked for one season. He then tried to implement it with the Wobs and it failed. Coleman's approach was the same. It works for 20 mins, then the Tahs start losing shape, dropping balls and throwing hospital passes and led to loads of fatigue and injuries

We don't have the physicality of the Boks or the athleticism of the Kiwis

Aus rugby is at it's best working within well defined structures

I disagree with this bit as there have been times when our forwards have been equal and, in some instances, dominant. Our athleticism is equal to any and better than most due to our outdoor sports culture, which, although dampened, is still huge.
As an instance in 2019 we beat the AB's 47-26. 'It’s the most points Australia has ever scored in one game against New Zealand and equalled the record for the biggest winning margin over the Kiwis.' Reported by News.com.
I watched that game closely as we beat them at the breakdown and dominated the game regardless of NZ losing a player. What I took out of that game was we need to have a positive mind set, the quality of our coaching needs to be better {Cheika got them up for this one} and game planning is nowhere near the AB's.
I think this is how we can play but we need to have all parts of our rugby running well. I think Schmidt has shown some of these parts but still plenty of work to do

I mean, it worked for at least two Tahs seasons, and then for one Wallabies season. And by 'worked' I mean it won a Super Title, backed that up with a top two finish and then made a RWC final.

I'm not pro Cheika returning to the Wallabies, but it's still a resume unlike any other local candidate.

Don't have the personnel for it at the moment, though.

It also worked quite well for Argentina and a few European teams. However, Super Rugby is a league where tactics are a distant second to team cohesion/motivation and the Wallabies got worse and worse every day that Link wasn’t their coach, IMHO.

Why is it taking so long to announce Joe’s decision? He’s either finishing up or he’s staying on? Rugby Australia knew he signed until the end of the British Lions series. I guess they want him to stay but surely by now he has decided?

Id say he has indeed decided. RA is currently trying to get him to change his mind
Agree, but don't think he will change his mind. At the end of 25, we should be in a far better shape all round than when he came. That's good enough for me. Let him retire, he's set down a blueprint for how rugby in Australia can progress.

Rugby Australia should have a candidate ready for Joes leaving at the end of the season?

Assume Super Rugby season? Wallaby season is too late. I would prefer, assuming they have the person lined up already ie Kiss/Larkham that they would join the Wallabies as assistants for the games until Schmidt retires. That way anything they needed to know could be handed on by Schmidt directly.

Kiss already alleged to be joining Wallabies as consultant after SRP (Super Rugby Pacific), according to some sources close to him he was given plenty of notice so he wouldnt book a holiday or something. I heard this back in November well before the JS situation seemed more than likely him leaving.

Great news! I support this idea. The politics has yet to start, and I hope it doesn't, but history is against it.
