Wallabies 2024

While I agree JAS was impressive, there is noting wrong with critiquing a professional sportsman. It's part of the job and no one should be above criticism (valid or not)
No problem with critiquing. But that wasn't critiquing, that was criticising.

Yeah Schmidt's quotes to Iain Payton certainly sounded like a man apologizing for leaving

Him leaving was always the most likely case with his sons health, so you'd hope RA have a plan in place for him not being there post Lions

I'm not getting the same feeling from his comments - not that I'm getting an overly positive or optimistic sense either, just more it feels he's firmly riding the fence publicly despite almost certainly having made a decision either way

What are our realistic contingencies if Joe leaves? Depending on how the Tahs go next year, their coaching team would be pretty well credentialed. Bernie Larkham is another obvious option.

This quote where he sounds like he's speaking about coaching the Wallabies in the past tense doesn't fill me with confidence:

"I would have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the players and the staff, and the challenge that it's been,"

Hopefully its just a case of a guy not being acutely aware of the language he's using and how it might be construed in the context of the story.

The only known facts are that his contract is up, he's deeply committed to his home life and that he's been loving his time in the wallabies set up.

Could go either way

Hopefully Parling, Fisher, and Toolin would stay on. Unsure with Cron as I imagine he's very much tied to Joe. Dan Palmer could definitely be a good option to replace him though.

I have heard Kiss will be formally brought into the Wallabies coaching setup post-SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) in an 'advisor' role. With the idea he can either phase back to the Reds if Joe decides to stay or be appointed HC if he leaves.

From what I've heard, RA are assuming Joe won't stay on after BIL but it is very fluid.

I mean, this could also be simply reflecting on his experience so far - nothing wrong with using past tense in that instance.

Could be a long off season given we're already diving into the semantics of off-the-cuff quotes ;)
