Wallabies 2023

Rory Arnold would be insane to break a contract that still runs for two years post RWC at an incredible amount of money to try and make the RWC squad.

It's clearly unfortunate for everyone that there isn't an opportunity to both keep his contract and play rugby elsewhere this year but that's the reality of the situation.

The mahjong quip sucks because it isn't very funny and it mostly just comes across as being a bit racist.
Was a bit of a 'here goes Grandpa' moment but whatever. Sounds like Eddie might have even moved on from him tbh. I thought the get the VB into them and get them drunk part was when he was going to have a blanket put over his shoulders and walked off.

Sounded like he needs a quite weekend. He's been really busy getting around not just to Super Rugby games but coaching clinics, player visits.

Don't think he is as important as Cooper if fit. Our lock stocks are a full barrel and his contribution over a Skelton/Frost et al would not be enough. He ain't a Brodie Retallick, he's a good lock but I wasn't that impressed with his efforts for us last time.

Yeah, he didn't play well when brought in last time. I definitely think he's got a high enough ceiling that you would want him there again competing for a spot if he was actually playing this year.

Given he isn't I don't think it is at all unreasonable that he isn't being considered.

What are people's back three at the moment? Kellaway's impressive return to form has made it even more congested.

Koroibete is a lock for one wing. Will we see Toole debut? Or is it a year too soon? Competing for the other wing spot is Petaia, Nawaqanitawase, Kellaway, Toole, Vunivalu kinda, Wright.

I see fullback as a three-way shoot out between Kellaway, Petaia & Wright. Preference for Jordy at the moment over Tom for lack of fuck ups and height in the air.

I have 11. Koroibete 14. Kellaway 15. Petaia 23. Wright with Toole & Nawqanitawase on the plane too.
11. Korobeite, 14. Nawqanitawase, 15. Kellaway, 23. Petaia

Don't think Braveheart is far off the money in terms of backs as they fit Eddie's preferred players. This pretty well solidifies my thoughts that Cooper will not make it and we will get to see exactly what Foley can and can't do if, but more likely when Cooper breaks down.

BH any ideas about forwards? As they are a far more important part of the equation.

Really wish Swain wasn't such a dickhead on the field and Hosea was fit because with Frost and Skelton they would be my 4 second rowers and not worry about Arnold at all. I'd take LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) over him even. Adds versatility as well
Do you mean Philip not Hosea?

I reckon Swain will end up being a great lock for Australia but he's young and dumb atm. There appears to be a fair amount of versatility in the potential squad, we really need a specialist lock and Neville might be it.

geez I hope we get this a tour up again this year. Hosea, Canham, Swain & maybe even Philip coming back from inj, we could really build some world class depth in the 2nd row.

Skelton, Frost, Neville
Philip, Swain
Hosea, Canham

Thats serious stock, 3 years ago we were in all sorts like our hooker situation is atm

Expect to lose Phillip and maybe Neville after the cup.

Happy with Swain, Hosea, Frost and Canham, all with great potential.

No I don't mean Phillip. I like him as a player and think he's quality but I think the others can be better and take the Wallabies further. Big fan of Trevor Hosea. Just hasn't had the Rugby in the legs so far.
