A bit of discussion around Gleeson.

Beale misses, JOC (James O'Connor) out, Hooper still taking time, Campbell in, Foley makes it.

I am one of the few that don’t have an issue with Foley. He has a very good all around running and passing game but his kicking is a bit off. Maybe its better now?
I’d play Hodge at 15 if Foley gets a run.
My guess is that Rennie will bring him in and have a look at him in camp, as he did with Quade.

I don't have an issue with Foley either. It will help Lolesio's development, he can refer to Quade for what to do, and Foley for what not to do. It will be great to see both sides for development purposes.

JOC (James O'Connor) was talked about going all the way thru to the RWC by Rennie only a week or so ago… looks like Lolesio with Foley as back up..

Foley has a bit too prove beforehand. He will get a shot and either sink or swim. Nothing locked in for RWC yet clearly.

I hope it is more considered than sink or swim. If you are testing something give that thing a chance. Quade had to wait for his shot, makes sense for Foley too except we are running out of time.

Within a week O’Connor has gone from starting to out of the squad, bit strange

interesting to see where they see Gleeson fitting in

Gleeson in is massive. It's very early but I like what I've seen from him. It's reward for Aus A form too.

I'm hoping Foley's inclusion is more of a mentoring thing for Noah. JOC (James O'Connor) gone is sad for him, but he's not been right most of the year. Pleased for Jock Campbell and it's probably a recognition that we need more proper fullbacks.

Regardless of thoughts on his form (I differ from many in that I didn't think he was that poor, particularly his last two appearances), it's a massive call to drop JOC (James O'Connor) for Foley. I hope he's the latest to have a redemption arc in gold (following on from JOC (James O'Connor) and Quade), but the thought of him starting makes me bloody nervous.

Has anyone had eyes on how Foley's actually been performing for Kubota? Obviously Top League and Rugby Championship are apples and oranges, but could do with something to calm my nerves...

the ins are justified, especially Campbell, Gleeson is raw but was the most impressive of the A team imo, the returning injured as expected. Not sold on Foley but i can see the rationale, as i've said above a i think they should pick Loslesio and stick with him till and if QC (Quade Cooper) returns.

well, his defence hasn't improved

Did O'Connor really play that badly that he has gone from first choice to completely out of the squad? If he did, why are Tupou and several others not out on their collective ears? This smacks to me of absolute panic on the selectors part.

I know Rennie is one of the selectors, but who are the others? They're there to provide some level of stability to the selection process. I can understand Rennie having a meltdown, after that game you'd expect him to want to shed some blood somewhere. That's why you have a panel, to provide some stability and continuity.

In the last two seasons they've finished 2nd and then made the semi-finals and he's their starting 10.

No problem with Foley being pulled into the squad. He was never a bad 10. A horrible kicker, but as a flyhalf he was solid.

Thankfully Marika, Hunter, Len, Jock, Hodge and Jordan can all kick, so no need to let Foley kick.
