Wallabies 2021

Todays article suggest it will be 32 + 4 based in europe, whereas originally thought to be 36 + those based in europe

Notes
- Not sure about the Baby daddy returnees positions (LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) & Ala'alatoa). If they are available to do what Koroibete is doing.
- Speculated that Rennie to use Wallabies in europe if injury replacements required (dempsey, simmons, naiyaravoro & beale speculated/used as examples by journo)

If it's 32 travelling plus 4 based currently in europe, to quote the great SBW
"For me"

Hookers: Latu, Amosa, Kaituu
Props: Sio, Slipper, Bell, Thor, Ala'alatoa, Robertson (would prefer Pone personally)
Locks: Arnold, Skelton, Rodda, Philip, Swain
Backrow: Swinton, Valetini, Leota, Samu, Mcmahon, Hoops
Half: White, Mcdermott, Gordon
Flyhalf: Lolesio, JOC (James O'Connor), Quade
Centre: Paisami, Kerevi, Ikitau, Petaia
Wing: Koroibete, Daugunu, Kellaway, Wright
FB: Beale, Hodge
Reports were that Rennie was looking to take Banks on tour, he will definitely miss the Japan test but by the time they play Scotland it will be over 7 weeks since the injury.

Should that be the case I'd be inclined to leave Daugunu behind. He hasn't been part of the Rugby Championship squad, it will have been over 4 and a half months since his last hitout if you exclude the 1 minute against the French. With 3 specialist wingers as well as Petaia and Hodge we are pretty well covered.

Man i thought Daugunu was going to make that wing spot his own. Really faded since that early promise.

Definitely seen Daugunu in training photos.

Also the way the wings play are different. I don't think Daugunu and Koroibete play the same as Wright and Kellaway, so not as simple as swap one for the other.

Vunivalu could still be a chance, or recalling Naiyaravoro so was killing it before he left and has continued to kill it since.

Rennie is a happy chap right now with the inclusion of these top line OS players and with the promise of more European based guns to come. Its going to be quite a squad.

Yeah he seems to have gotten the balance right of O/S and local players. I would still like the emphasis to be local players though.

I’d drop Lolesio and pull in To'omua, if quarantine issue aren’t a problem. To'omua offers more experienced depth across flyhalf and centre. Both are presumably not even going to get a look in at the bench anyway.

The Spring/Autumn tour is a great place for Noah to get experience. He now has 2 experienced Fly Halves that he can learn off during the tour both in practice and in games.

If there was club rugby going on at the moment, I'd say yeah, keep Noah at home. But the kid needs to be playing rugby so he can continue his development.

I honestly don't see any upside with Matt being taken in the squad unless he gets flown over for injury cover.

I find it sad to say, but To'omua appears to be yesterday’s man. Father Time appears to have run him down.

Would love him to prove me wrong but I’d far prefer they take Lolesio.

I actually wouldn’t hate if they took on of the other young 10s with them - but I don’t think that’s realistic with a 32 man squad.

Toomuas one of the elder players who sees to have grown more erratic then composed as he gets older. His long looping passes to the wing he has thrown weekly this year in both Super Rugby and Test are passes i don’t remember him throwing when younger. He was always a mature head on young shoulders.

It seems that the 'take guys on tour for experience' line is not being used this time. Noah has been in the wallaby squad non stop for several months and started 3 tests. He doesnt need another trip to get more training experience this year.

It seems they are looking to leave the majority of 'young' guys behind after a long wallaby campaign and letting them do a full super pre season.

Rennie seems to have a good sense of humour. Re Kerevi:

“It used to be called a sprained ankle in my day,” Wallabies coach Dave Rennie said.

“It’s now called syndesmosis, which is much worse evidently."

Youd think that Petaia, Lolesio, Swain, Lonergan, Wilson, Wright the Qldr, mcRight will all stay in Oz for the work. Famausili too perhaps. We will soon find out. To'omua might go because of his versatility but probably shouldnt.
