I thought phipps was a certainty after they trodded him out for the unvieling of the jersey

Re my early comment regarding our backline i think our backline my only concern is goal kicking. Foley usually pretty accurate but he doesnt have the consistency of the like of farrell

There is no one better that could be justified as a starter, so you work around his strengths and weaknesses, like every other player selected

Im surprised Phipps didn't make it, but you gotta reward form, but there are some lucky Tah's there, in the likes of say Latu (talented but a nob) and Dempsey, but as others have put it he has had an awesome game against the All blacks . The rest are pretty much mainstays in the team, in Hooper, Simmions, Kepu, Robertson, Foley, Beale.

And I guess AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is the Old Half Dead Outside Back we take with us to every WC.

Yeah, I was surprised with Grandpa Two-Dads.

I was more surprised with Latu, Phipps I think didn't do enough to get selected.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) had some moments of high IQ this season at 13, but I would have loved to see someone fit and providing a better option

He had probably his best game of the season against the Rebels and that probably played a fair part in his selection.

The Reds losing twice against the Tahs probably didn't help CFS' chances either. I can't be certain (and can't be bothered looking it up but I'm pretty sure he played 13 in both those games).

CFS was better over the course of the season than AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) was. I think, anyway.

It's probably an attitude thing. People accuse CFS of being lazy and overweight - where as AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) always gives his best.

Lealiifano has a shot at starting and his kicking was about 76 % (below Foley)
To'omua seems to be a pretty good kick at goal although not alot of stats on him (71 %) from a small sample.

Don't think there's anything to suggest that Foley is the only Justified starter at 10.

Feel like the fact the only thing people are really arguing over are squad spots to AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Latu (who probably won't get a look in all going well injury wise) indicates it's a pretty well-picked squad.

Yep, I think it was largely as expected, and there's a couple of the contentious/surprise selections that will likely be cut when some players return from injury............

Hooker is tricky - although Fainga'a was heads and shoulders above everyone else this year, he's still only 23 and in the second year of his professional career..........

Uelese, while having shown promise two seasons ago hasn't had the game time to prove he's still at that level..........

The other two best performing hookers this year - Mafi and Rangi, are uncapped............

BPA hasn't really been very good since he was blooded against the Irish last year............

TPN is injured, and wasn't particularly good last year - possibly due to being flown back and forth from the UK...........

That leaves Lotu, who can be fantastic one minute, and then red carded the next......... but at least has some test experience.

Well, I think Foley is odds on to start when it matters, I do not rate To'omua at all as a 10 and I think Lilo is the only other viable option and he is way down on test experience

Whether that opinion changes will depend on Foley's form and the teams functionality. "If" the pigs do their job he will get the space he needs and we will all be happy.

If the pigs aren't doing their job, well, it doesn't matter who is at 10, we are f*cked

I was thinking we were in good hands with Fainga'a until his throwing wasn't exactly spot on during the semi final. Kind of like he buckled under the "test match" pressure. Hope he proves me wrong and gets his throws right!

Just because you dont rate To'omua doesn't mean he wont get the gig at 10, he finished the season as the Wallaby 10 and Lealiifanio has had enough caps like 16 ish and has played long enough, that his no rookie.

I think Foley will get his chance, as will the others, I think if you where going to go into the first test and say form is my guide, lets see who has it at test level, I suspect you will see Lealiifano start at 10 against the Bok, then if it goes to shit Foley will get his chance against Argentina, or possibly the other way round.

I see them both as pretty similar players, with goal kicking better and Lealiifano's defense better (but Foley does put his back into it).

To'omua was the only other option last year. I'll be very surprised if we see To'omua wearing the 10 jersey this season.

Foley also played 12 in both those games. We were light on in terms of healthy inside backs.

I agree. Im not suggesting there's a better option im just saying its an area of concern

What I liked about Uelese when he played his couple of tests was that he carried very well and was physically dominant. His throwing was OK from memory too.
FF (Folau Fainga'a) was one of the better hookers in Super rugby this year and hopefully that translates well to test rugby. Latu can also hold his own at test level but is a real grub. When temptation arises to land a cheap shot he can’t help himself.
If Uelese can stay injury free he and FF (Folau Fainga'a) will form a dynamic hooking duo with TPN to back them up.

To'omua hasn't had a good game in Australia in at least 3 years. He is also far better at 12 than 10. He was also slated in the UK media for awful performances and showed little if anything in his limited time for the Rebels.

If i see To'omua in the 10 jersey over any of Foley, Lilo or even Quade i will crack the shits.

Greg Davis (50)
To'omua showed he can still lay a decent hit in defence but that was about the sum total of his contribution at the Rebels. Not nearly enough to warrant a jersey
