Neither Foley or QC (Quade Cooper) offer what we really need from a 10 - a good (quick) pass, a good boot, decent defense, the ability to test the line with the pill very occasionally (and take the ball to ground without pannicking into a failed offload or flickpass) and most importantly, the brainpower required to know when to do which.
I always thought throwing Beale on the 10 scrapheap after the NZ tests in 2014 was ill-considered, but he mightn't have worked out either.
I agree that Barnes was probably the last (close to) complete package. Giteau was and still is far too in love with running around with the ball in his hands, and for much of a test match that really isn't the 10's job.

What tactics do people expect the 2 teams will use?
Against NZ the Wallabies looked for gaps near and around the ruck. They also hit it up with the big men Coleman, Timani and Arnold getting over the advantage line.
Against Wales I expect the attack to focus wider out in the centres.
The Welsh forwards are not as match fit, first game in a while.
The Welsh backs have a weakness in lateral movement and in turning around and chasing. If there was someone in the wallabies who kicked well tactically then a few chips and few up and unders behind them. So go a bit wider and then inside passes to catch them going the wrong way and lazy forwards not drifting across.
Wales I expect to get the ball wide quickly and attack the wallaby poor defenders in DHP and Speight by running North and Roberts at them. The 2 Welsh opensiders will be positioned to chase and protect the ball out wide.
I also expect the Welsh to try and get scrum penalties by angling in, dropping binds, going around the corner etc. Then kicking the penalty.

Well I am certainly one who is not convinced about Speight but as soon as they announced the tour squad I had him in my starting 15. Not because I believe he is our long term winger - defence poor and not proved to me for long time anything special in attack, but squad choice means limited options. But by virtue of only choosing 2 specialist wingers and with Folau at 15, it means yep start with Speight and DHP.
I think that is the thing - DHP locked up one winger spot with his performances and until he gets option at 15 only one other winger position up for grabs. And problem is no one put there hand up to cement that. On this tour Naivalu, Speight and Koroibete have the chance to cement themselves for the other wing spot. Speight and Naivalu moreso as Koroibete suspect won't get any game time till late in the tour, perhaps against France game which is non grand slam game.
I would be surprised if Speight proves he can nail down the other wing spot as just not convinced he is test standard now days.

Pocock vs Hooper - both world class players so you can see why Cheika will do what he can to get longer game time out of both.
Hooper one the John Eales medal for a reason. But with Fardy on the bench you have back up option to revert to if Pooper at 6 does not work.

I disagree, I would have chosen Naivalu. Given him a chance starting.
He is very quick so he could easily run around Cuthbert. He is a better defender than Speight IMO.

Probably is - just not seen enough of Naivalu to judge or more to the point can't remember enough about how he played for rebels this season when watched rebel games.

I think taking Naivalu over Morahan was maybe a mistake. Not on talent. More for a couple of reasons.
First, Morahan has been in excellent overall form.
Second, I think Sefa needs a full preseason. The broken leg let him work on his somewhat underdeveloped physicality, and that has improved. He's a much more imposing specimen, and his strength in contact, both on attack and line defence has improved massively.
The lightning that made him such a standout, for Box Hill, the Rising and the Rebels in 2014-15 isn't at the same level anymore. I would think that a full preseason in an attempt to find a balance between his current physique and fitness, and the original one, would have been more beneficial, given he was capped already.

I too would have included Morohan but instead of Speight.
For one thing he can kick the ball , if DHP gets hurt Wallabies have no winger with a decent boot.

Not sure. All the Champions league games are shown live and then replayed for the next week or so.
I would assume they'll replay Rugby games they have rights for.
