Some interesting thoughts on here. Some I agree with, some I don’t. Luckily this was a game I’ll able to sit through a second time.

For what it’s worth, a couple of points from me -

- up front we saw the plus & minus of Tupou. I thought Ala'alatoa was excellent in general play with his tackling, breakdown work and presenting himself as a carrying option. Much better work rate. On the flip side our scrum looked decidedly weaker - which isn’t all down to Ala'alatoa at all, but I just think Tupou was missed there.
- very strong game by Faessler. It’s good to have a thrower hitting his target consistently (although has to share some blame for the scrum)
- thought Skelton was good and very happy to see our lineout function well with him out there.
- Frost did some good things but his 1 on 1 tackling is an issue
- I thought Uru was excellent. Really filled his role well. Along with Gleeson & Wright we now have a couple of good options for the bench forward
- McReight & Valetini both busy and effective
- I thought White was pretty good. Surprised by some of the criticism of him
- Lolesio also very solid IMO. Maybe his best test
- Ikitau showing his class & Wright brilliant. Suddenly we have some genuine potency in our backline. I look at how Tom Wright is going now and can’t help but think back that Latham was a bit flaky at the start of his career. Hopefully Wright continues in his current form
- Likewise really impressed by Kellaway and Jorgensen so far. Lots of quality involvement
- as above I was pretty impressed with Kerevi. Not being able to play next week is disappointing but I reckon Schmidt will definitely want to include him next year

All up great to see the backline showing some genuine ability to score tries but the big take from my point of view is that our forward pack are standing up and winning the collisions and suddenly everyone looks like they can play rugby again. Our defence looks stronger but still with lots of room for improvement.

I don't think there is any ability for Doleman to overrule what happened and force the player off for a full HIA.

Only the neutral match day doctor can do that. Doleman can call for the player to be looked at which he was.
Not by the neutral match day doctor...

Probably time to Rule 10 this, so last post on it from me.

The referee has the discretion to stop the game if they believe foul play has occurred, or they can let it play (typically as a penalty advantage) and have it be reviewed concurrently. That is the protocol, and that is what happened here. As Wales was in possession, and it was potential foul play against Australia (and it looked like there may have been a small knock-on from Wales after the ball was cleared from the ruck), there was no point essentially playing advantage while the potential foul play was reviewed.
Wales clearly knocked the ball on right Infront of Dolman before he blew the whistle. When questioned on it he lied and said he had already called time off

But in the end it wasn't a penalty at all, and that's because there was no force, low impact and nothing illegal about the clean out. So we stopped the game for nothing when wales had the ball in good field position.

Once more for those in the back - not every time someone's head is touched in a game of rugby does it mean foul play has occurred.
No, Wales knocked the ball on before play was halted

Oh yeah, the Welsh coaching box was not a happy one.

This is possibly one for the broadcasting thread, but the Eng/SA game on stan was much better viewing - they got a lot better angles. In the wallabies game, they were packing a scrum, nearly got to "set" before the camera swung away from the coaches back to the game!
I think that camera operator was drunk, zooming in and out, then back in, over panning shots. It was amateur.

Schmidt all but confirming they will be appealing the red card decision for Kerevi due to a number of inconsistent factors.

He mentions there was no 'ping in the mouthguard' of the Welsh player. I might be well behind this but do all players have impact sensors in their mouthguards now to help assist with high tackles??

Yeah I think they all do have one of those mouthguards, but I'm unsure if this information is used in real time to make decisions in the referee team (I don't think it is - and maybe it should be). Might be used in off field processes like judiciary or sanctioning

I'm more surprised that an opposition coach will have access to the information!

- Frost did some good things but his 1 on 1 tackling is an issue
He missed 5 tackles from 21 attempted. Not good enough. Jac Morgan made 30 tackles! Kellaway made 11/11 tackles which was Australia's 3rd highest and better than all of the forwards bar 2. His fitness is outstanding.
- Willy Skelton led the match with two turnovers.
- Bell led Aus with 17 carries, in Kerevi's 40 minutes he carried 15 times for 2nd.

Why is it twisted logic. The logic here is you as the tackler need to be in control of your own tackle - and if you do anything that reduces your control (like sprint into contact in this example) then you have to accept the risk. The reward being if it comes off you put the attacking team on the back foot if you get it right.

His height wasn't ok - and whether you accept it or not, that has been consistently applied for a long time. He's no lower than the ball carrier who is merely bracing for contact (predictable - all ball carriers do this in contact) and he's driving up.

There are a lot of examples where players can cut down space in rush defence or hit someone hard at speed and not hit someones head at the same time, this just wasn't one of them.
I think your logic is skewed either by being overly worried about injury or because you never played the game. I just watched the incident again several times. Morgan was accelerating and dropping whilst trying to step Kerevi in a fraction of a second (not 1 sec as I suggested) and you claim Kerevi should have adjusted... This was a yellow card and not a red.
