They're probably singing from that old song sheet, that any player wanting to leave is not a player we wanted to keep.

Using that muddled logic, you never can lose a player you want to keep, for the very moment they want to leave, you no longer want to keep them.

Well this has helped me make up my mind on Waera-Hargraves. Tahs don't go anywhere near him, if Paul Osbourne is one of his mates.

The former Parramatta Eels, CEO Osbourne has publically stated he hates Union and was the guy who provided Tahu with his advice. First to tell Tahu (who didn't want to return to the NRL) to dump the Tahs and go to Japan and then later lured him back to the NRL to play for Parramatta. Tahs stay clear of JWH you don't need this crap.

Surprise surprise

Waerea-Hargreaves stays put at Roosters

April 12, 2012

SPECULATION was rife Sydney Roosters were in danger of losing star forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves to big-money offers from elsewhere in the NRL or rugby union, but after re-signing yesterday the Kiwi international said he had never seriously contemplated leaving.
The Roosters announced the off-contract Hargreaves had committed to stay until the end of the 2015 season, which was great news for a club that is tipped to build on its existing forward strength by signing Sonny Bill Williams for next year.
Waerea-Hargreaves said it was ''a privilege and an honour'' to be a part of the Roosters, adding: ''I've been pretty happy here and my family has been happy, and I guess you do whatever makes you happy, and that is why I stayed. I didn't really think much about leaving.
''There was a process, but my heart is with the Roosters. I wasn't really looking at anywhere else, I am happy here. There were a couple of boys out there like [Roosters teammates] 'Pearcey' [Mitchell Pearce] and 'Skidsy' [Shaun Kenny-Dowall], and they were saying, 'Come on, hurry up and sign', and I am pleased that I have. I think there's a real good future here.''
Parramatta and Super Rugby franchise the Waratahs had been mentioned as keen suitors of the prop or second-rower.
Roosters coach Brian Smith, who has steered the team to four wins from six games this season, said he regarded Waerea-Hargreaves as a positive and growing influence on teammates.
''Jared has been a stand-out player for us so far this year, and to ensure that we have him here for a number of years is great for the Roosters,'' Smith said. ''He has stepped up a gear this season, and we are looking forward to watching him develop and become a leader in our team over the coming seasons.''
Waerea-Hargreaves, 23, has played 46 games for the Roosters. ''Jared has been part of our commitment to develop our young players over the past few years, and he is a great asset to this club both on and off the field,'' Roosters chief executive Steve Noyce said.

One would think his impact in union wouldn't quite be that of his current impact on league. If you take the one out hit up (which would leave him isolated in union) and his aggression (shown purely through shoulder charging anything within 2m of him) out of him, as both don't transfer to our game, I don't think he offers too much more to be honest. Granted he was a former age grade player and junior tah but there are countless amounts of players running around in Shute shield or academy structures that would have stepped past him years ago and deserve first bite at the cherry anyway.

You could make an argument that he's probably similar as a rugby league player to Jarrod Saffy and would therefore have a pretty good chance of being a solid Super Rugby player.

I'm not a fan of the guy though and very happy that he stayed in mungo ball. I think the Roosters have a terrible culture and have to assume that he is part of that.

I had to google the nickname Skidsy to find out who that was.

Are you a closet Roosters fan Bruce?

There may be quite a few things in my closet, Braveheart, which are best left there undisturbed, but being a "Roosters fan" or indeed any sort of mungo fan is not among them.

The reference to 'Skidsy' came from the Sydney Morning Herald article above.

It would have to be a first for rugby league that a nickname of Skidsy was in reference to a person's name and not a reference to them defecating somewhere... be it a shoe or a hotel hallway.

JWH was suppose to be leaving the Roosters because they were clearing room in the salary cap to bring in SBW. I wonder if he (SBW) is going elsewhere?

Heard him interviewed on the radio (and was dumber for it, by the way), and he repeated the "it's a process that my manager went through" line. Sounded like he was, quite obviously, just negotiating a better salary from the Roosters.

Whilst googling up Skidsy too, I came across another definition of that word...it'd be quite opposite in terms of enjoyment to that above!
