This story might explain why he was lost to Union given Waugh's unnatural/unhelathy influence over the running of the Tahs

Just saw on Seven "news" an interview where he denied leaving the chickens, followed by the interviewer bagging Union about scrums and lineouts...

I remember WH playing Australian Schools and Australia U19s. He played junior waratahs but was not given any opportunities therefore took a good deal from Manly

neither lineouts nor scrums involve dangerous tackles or men running straight at eachother ad naseum, so why have them?

Rugby League....perfect for those who can't understand union and live too far away from the States to watch the NFL.

on to the topic. how old is he? I think there is a point in a players career when he is too league to make it in union. this fellow appears like he might be there. surely going from a league forward to a union forward is too much of a struggle. the differences are enormours. there is a reason why 90% of the converts shift to the wing in union...much more similarities.

that said. saffy has made the shift reasonably well, granted he still struggles with a few aspects...he did play union until he was 21 or so though.

He's 24. He was always a Union forward, played Union for Australia in Schoolboys and at the U19 World Cup, and then trained with the Waratahs. He was signed by Manly as a Union forward, without ever having played a game of League. I don't think he'd struggle as bad as you make out.

SAH he's too short and heavy to be a good 8 or 6.
He might have been a 7 but if that angle he ran in the video is his idea of a good angle he's got NFI

The Moltzen saga is pretty strange. Tigers didn't want to renew his contact in 2011 even though he wanted to stay so he was forced to headed off to the Dragons. He signed a 3 year contract. Then the Tigers realised they needed him so he dumped the Dragons and moved back to the Tigers without even playing for the Dragons. Now he is looking to leave the Tigers? Sounds a bit suss to me as well.

If he was keen on Union he would have moved across last year when his manager spoke to the Tahs during the Tigers/Dragon fiasco.

I believe Moltzen still had another year to run on his contract with the Tigers but was given permission to talk to other clubs because the Tigers didn't have the cash to keep him. He agreed to terms with the Dragons but I don't believe a contract was signed. It is certain that a contract wasn't lodged with the NRL which is what needs to be done. The Tigers still had their Moltzen contract with one year left to run registered with the NRL.

After Robert Lui beat up his girlfriend and moved to North Queensland, the Tigers desperately needed another playmaker so they talked Moltzen into staying (as he wanted to do) and so enforced their contract that still existed.

I believe Moltzen will stay at the Tigers. I really think this is just a ploy by his manager to sweeten the deal.

To cut a long story short, the Dragons got screwed and everyone was happy :D

I never forgave them for poaching Mick O'Connor. One consolation about losing him from rugby union was that he went to the Dragons.
