I definitely saw Matt come off the bench for Uni 1sts is a regular season game in 2009. I know because people were having a good old heckle.

As for Dave and Ross, I'm not saying Uni threw money at them but I am saying they signed them and they didn't live up to hype.
i 'd agree with that

Trial games start this weekend.

I know Melbourne and Box Hill are playing each other, does anyone else know of any games?

House playing Souths at Cerberus in a full club trial..10 or 12 x 20 min periods..

Who are Souths putting out this year? Prems 1s, 2s, and 4s?

Eltham A and B playing Hills this Saturday.
I admire the Div 2 sides who put out teams to play Prems clubs in trials. It mustn't be a fun Sunday for the boys.

I mean Div 2A have gotten to the point that they are much stronger than the majority of Prems 2 (Melbourne, Quins, and maybe PH would be 2A standard) but there is an gaping different in standard between Prems 2 and Prems 1.

Not John Ross, he is a Royals legend from Canberra, hope he isn't coaching at Vikings! Think the "other wallaby" is Peter Grigg...surely a Uni supporter would know that.???

Matt played a few games, I watched him play fior Uni against House one day at Northcote..

I believe Peter actually coached ACT 21's. Considering Melbourne Premier Grade is probably on par with Bris and Sydney Subbies comps, I'd say that is more than adequate experience.

2nd and 3rd division draw up: https://assets.imgstg.com/assets/console/document/documents/2013 2nd Div A & B Grade and 3rd Div Draft Draw V1 as at 18 March.pdf

As mentioned earlier on, the country division has been renamed. Shepparton are back also.

Interesting. The VRU sure do like "lateral" thinking when it comes to draws and finals series.

Interesting that Norths have 2 teams (good for them!) but it would have been good to see Wyndham back up their success by getting the numbers for a new team.

Is the Colts draw out too?

It's the VRU mate...

They didn't even publish the draw via social media. Found out from my weekly Eltham newsletter.

Interesting. If you don't mind me asking, how far are Eltham off a 3rds? Is Premier Division something they're aiming at?

I played in 2011. We barely managed a XV for a couple of games. So it was amazing seeing 2 sides last year and that continue this year.

It definitely should be the aim of all clubs.

I think Eltham or Norths need to step up to help the geographic spread.

It'd also be nice to see Wydnham step up but they have so many league clubs to compete with. Geelong probably could... there's a few really good players I know of that live out that way that play elsewhere.

I think the VRU should be gunning for a 12 team Premier grade, not a 8 team one. Hell, even WA has 10. Losing Boroondara isn't great but at least it's not an issue in terms of geographic spread.

Just for those of you who didn't know Melbourne Winger Niel Walsh actually got a couple of games for Ulster in the Rabo Direct league this season. I had reported that he had been bought into there reserves squad earlier in the thread.

Some decent match ups in the trials this weekend:
Souths v Melbourne will be a good game
Quins v House will also be a good game IMO
Northern v Uni might be closer than people think as well.
