Think this is a job we may see the likes of Hoiles have an eye on. Has Hooper showed an interest in coaching? He's a good presenter it seems and Stan could do a lot worse than him in place over a guy like Goog and SBW.

I know it would take away from Super sides but Mowen should also be looked at for it and tapped on the shoulder.

Other one is the Brumbies U19s coach who clearly can identify talent and how to build a side.

I'm not going to go in on the kids selected to play at this tournament. Early injuries hurt them in key positions as well as a rained out game which is pathetic really. When so many of last years 18s got called up it may indicate a weaker class this year but hopefully we have a good chunk returning next year.

Another Hooper - Tom. Seems to be a name that goes with success, hey?

Bring them all in!

That Brums 19s side was well drilled and built perfectly. He'd be my pick for the HC role along with some true specialists who should be getting around to all the franchises and working with the 19s prior to the comp.

JWBs punched under their weight sadly, due to the selections mentioned above and others.

It all comes down to budget.

Super Rugby under 19s is first and foremost our best place to view players to make selections.

Beyond that it's difficult to pick other players out.

This has been the complaint about age grade rep teams at state and national level forever. It's got absolutely nothing to do with Nathan Grey.

Do you allocate more of your very limited budget to try and potentially select a slightly better team or do you select the best team you can from the rugby you have available to you and then spend your budget on camps and games?

The biggest problem with the super 19s at the moment is probably clashes with Aus Schoolboys games (and generally the lack of integration of the schoolboy rep program). I think there were 6 or so guys from the QLD under 19s that were off with the Schoolboys side for the first 2 rounds last year, missing both selection opportunities and prep time as a result. Not all of these guys are going to be pushing fro Australian under 20s selection straight off, but there's likely always going to be a few stars who will - like Pakeho. Even ignoring that there is top flight game time they're missing out on.

Fixing that alignment is probably the first thing they should look at as a 'free win', at least in financial terms.

I just don’t think it’s the strongest group this year. Few very good talents but then some who wouldn’t make it in other years. We will have up and down years unlike teams like England who will always have a steady stream.

A few from the 18s got the call up and most would have shown it in the U18s NSW v QLD games last year. Fakafunua for example got into the squad when and he was best on ground in those games and shaded Pakeho. Hopefully a big number back next year for them.

Genuine size is our biggest flaw from what I watched.
