Latu is back playing club rugby. But I have to say that he did not look all that special to me last weekend.

In the first Bledislode last year they had a few debutants and it didn’t work out too well at all. I expect this year they’ll start with a team similar to the one that won the Brisbane test last year and then make changes accordingly e.g. TK gets the nod over CFS for the first few games at least.

The June Test 33 man squad I think Cheika will go for (bracketed players are there if injuries still lingering). Larkham said that some players returning from injury may not be used.

HK - TPN, Amosa, Uelese (Rangi)
FR - Sio, Kepu, Thor, Ala'alatoa, Slipper (Robertson)
LK - Coleman, Arnold, Simmons, Rodda
BR - Poey, Hoops, Timani, Timu, Hanigan, Dempsey (Cottrell)
SH - Genia, Gordon, Powell
FH - Foley
C - Beale, Hodge, Kerevi, Tk, Rona
OB - Naivalu, Koroibete, Speight, Folau, Maddocks, DHP (Naiyaravoro)

Speight and Timani are no where near Super rugby form. International? nah. Rona has been alright but i don't know if he's earnt a squad spot yet. Maddocks had a few good games on the wing but from the 'Canes game onwards has been shit.

I would definitely take Naiyaravoro over either of Speight or Maddocks as a bench option. I'd take also Philip over Timani.

HK - Rangi isn't good enough, he's a solid Super player and plays hard but i think he's as good as hes going to get right now, Folau Fainga'a i'd have ahead as the 3rd hooker if needed just to expose him to the squad.
FR - Completely agree
LK - Time to move on from Simmons. Coleman and Arnold have enough experience now and Phillip is a more rounded and better player
BR - Pushing it for Timani, i think we might see either Lukhan Tui or RHP added just for some experience.
SH - Completely agree
FH - They will prob have CLL in there just for cover
C - Kurindrani will at least be announced
OB - Hodge will probably be announced as a winger with Naivalu dropping out

Good team however

Folau Fainga'a's lineout throwing has been pretty ordinary. Probably good to have in the squad for development, but I'd be worried if he actually got on the field.

And I can't see Lealiifano getting a call up, no matter how bare the cupboard is. He's looked right off the pace this season.

I'd take naiyaravoro also but not sure cheika will take a guy who is leaving straight afterwards, as he is all about building his options for the WC. I'd take L.Tui over Timani but he is injured. Naisarani will slot into that spot in 2019 anyway. If Timani DID get announced, I'd be surprised if he got more then a 1 game off the bench if only to give someone a break.

Fuck it though. You play your best team available and he's in our best team coming off the bench.

I'm sick of having to play Hanigan instead of Fardy because Fardy won't be available in the future. It just makes us shit now.

My stab at a 23 for the first test would be:

1. Slipper
2. TPN
3. Kepu
4. Coleman
5. Philip
6. Dempsey
7. Hooper
8. Timu
9. Genia
10. Foley
11. DHP
12. Beale
13. TK
14. Koroibete
15. Folau

16. Sio
17. Uelese
18. Tupou
19. Rodda
20. Pocock
21. Gordon
22. Kerevi
23. Naiyaravoro

Hodge is the only person i felt odd leaving out. But he's bang out of form. Pocock is probably in our best starting team but he's injured again and hasn't played a test in ages. Dempsey is just wishful thinking.

I know he hasn't played 10 in a while because Foley is there but I would love to see Kurtley Beale as our wallaby flyhalf. I just think he offers so much more than Foley in terms of attacking the line straight and the ability to bring others into the game through his ball playing

I reckon Cheika will know how important this series is to him, the Wallabies and RA. I expect the thinking won't necessarily be the same as a series against Fiji, Italy and Scotland.

Not saying that he'll definitely select Naiyaravoro but I think he will be more open minded to departing players than he was last year.

I would have been a fan of this team before Pocock returned but from the performances he’s put up in Super Rugby thus far I can’t see there’s anyway you can justify leaving him out of the starting team. He is just too good.

Think we will be looking at a front row of Sio, TPN and Kepu who are all very experienced together and then bringing the all QLD combo off the bench of Slipper, BPA and Tupou to finish. Minus the hooker issue its a nice headache to have for once in the prop stocks, especially when AAT is the next choice.

Here's a different one for people to think about, if say as rumored Pete Samu potentially announces he is signing for either Brums or Rebels then been selected while he's still in NZ? Could solve a massive issue at 6.

Dempsey is still a couple of months away from playing unfortunately, (His words at the tahs open training session last week.) So won't be in the mix until the RC later this year at best.

In other news (probably posted already or elsewhere) RA announce this hugely uninspiring jersey:
