The Wallabies Thread

Brumbieman

I'm only semi serious. i know he wont be picked, but i'm certain if he was he'd still utterly dominate the field. We'd only get 60 out of him these days, but fuck me they're quality minutes.

He seemed a bit of a penalty magnet for the reds this year to be honest. Class player though.

Blake Enever will be the 11th player to pack down in the second row for Australia in the last 12 months.

Rob Simmons has played the most games in that period - he will have played 13 matches out of 16

Chekia picked Powell early and I think he sees something there.. Larkham and Gregan have said, he needs to work on, his pass.. I think Powell will do well and play a lot of games.. His young give him a chance to grow.. We all forget last year he was suppose to be on the bench at the Brumbies.. Although there's some good 9's around..

You will enjoy watching and supporting Matt Lucas this year.

So glad his on field performance can do the talking rather than politics.

Interesting you say this DB, I have followed him since his Reds days and could not quite understand why he didn't get a better go. He seemed to perform well when given the opportunity and I heard he killed it in SS. Was it politics?

To me, the position of starting half (Genia) and bench half (Phipps) is the biggest gap in the whole team.

In nearly all other positions the second in line is not that far behind the starter.

Genia has certainly regained his form over the last 12 months or so.

You didn't touch wood after saying this did you scrubber?

This will be his last attempt at cracking it in Oz before overseas beckons. There’s only so many years the fringe players can afford to ignore the big offers from overseas.

If Wessels kicks on a takes the Rebels to the next level over the next two years, do we start considering him for a potential Wallabies role post RWC19?

If any coach takes their super rugby team to the next level over the next two years they should be considered for a potential wallabies role post RWC19

A Wallabies role doesn't always mean much if it's just an assistant job (although the team could probably do a refresh there).

We're on the Cheika horse until the 2019 RWC—like it or not—but we need to see the emergence of an alternative head coach.

Don't want to see another Robbie Deans-style contract extension.

Even in the unlikely event we win the cup, five years is a long tenure for Cheika's style of coaching.

Wouldn't be the worst of it. Chairman Clyne would become Dear Leader and Eternal General Secretary of the Party … then again, maybe you'd like that.

Just because I do not accept that the ARU Board and management are all totally and personally to blame for the shocking state of the game here, and for global warming, and the rise of Islamic Terrorism, does not mean that I think they are all wonderful specimens of human ingenuity and ability,

For a second I thought you were finally acknowledging that the ARU have some responsibility for the current state of Australia Rugby, but then you then revert back by making light of the situation by likening them to an ideology which has caused pain and death to innocent peiple..

You’re a class act mate...

Based on his record and the number of record losses this year plus the obvious lack of ticker in this squad for this EOYT and the mindless selections at times and that he has continually backed the almost unbackable defense coach...........it is time for Cheika to fall on his own sword.
There have been some good highlights in 2017 but they pale in comparison to the very low lights.

Its time. I'm not sure who, but we have some time between now and the mid year tests and the 2019 RWC.
