Does anybody think that dodgy Ref call that got the Bulls that last try against the Reds and <7 bonus point will come back to screw sombody's season?

It would be a bloody shame but it is that tight its highly possible.

Karma - Higginbotham was just offside before his try when Genia kicked the ball. Deserved a try though.

Yeah I ws getting ready to post a whinging tirade on the match thread but thought nah. But he was offside. Swings and roundabouts.

I can understand the ref missing a few things but the performance of the AR is not good enough. Are they recruited from the public service? I find it hard to justify the name assistant referee when the level of assistance in ordinary. It is not unreasonable to expect both of these incidents to have been ealiy picked up by the "assistant referee".

The assistant refs should got back to being touchies except for foul play. They miss too much and when they get involved they are usually wrong.

They also missed Steyns kick with his foot outside the 22 and his foot over the deadball line from a pass back. I also believe Houston's foot never touched the sideline when he was called out. I haven't seen a replay so I haven't seen if these things are on the tape yet.

I think you might be referring to Kirchner's kick from the 22? His foot was over the 22, but still on the line. Can someone clarify who the line belongs to, ie. if a part of the foot is over the line but still in touch with chalk. What is the law?

Houston't foot touched the side line with the operative being "touched". Seems apparent from the replay.

See why I didn't want to raise the try? ;) Anyway it's all water under the bridge. The Reds deserved to win.

I believe inside the field of play the line is in? So the 22 kick by the Kirch was within the 22.

Also, I believe Leroy did put a toe on the touch line. So that, rather confusingly, is out.

So I think in the end both of those rulings were correct.

Have to say that the comments of the Bulls coach after the game were extremely gracious. Same for Hickey's comments wishing the Reds luck. Given some of the dribble flying around at the moment I think it is only fair and in good taste to acknowledge it.

Touching the 22 is ok, however if part of his foot is over the 22 then what should the ruling be?

I believe touching any part of the 22 line is considered "within" the 22, same as touching any part of the try line is a try

If you watch the tape you would see the ref is so close he could have picked the ball up himself (or almost). I wouldn't blame the AR for not calling it as he would have thought the ref had decided to let it go.

in good news for the tahs and crusaders and not relevent to those that wont make the finals,

Super 14 champions could be forced out of stadium
April 20, 2010 - 10:22AM

The defending champion Bulls could be forced to play the rest of the Super 14 away from their Loftus Versfeld stadium due to worries over damage to the pitch at the FIFA World Cup venue.

The SAPA news agency reported on Monday that parliamentary committee on sport chairman Butana Komphela is unhappy with the condition of the pitches at Pretoria's Loftus and the Cheetahs' Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein, which will also host World Cup games.

Representatives from the Bulls and the Cheetahs are to appear at a committee meeting in Cape Town on Tuesday.

The Bulls confirmed the meeting Monday, saying it was "to discuss the use of Loftus Versfeld for the remainder of the Vodacom Super 14 rugby games."

No further comment was given.

It will still have 30 days to mend itself. Give the Bulls a break, I think half of the Bulls attendances for these games will be more then those of the WC games.

Nothing more than a black politician winding up the Boere. Komphela has an annual bout of verbal diarhoea and it's usually aimed at rugby becuase they have made him look the fool. Because "one settler, one bullet" is so 80's these days, you have to find other ways to threaten the very existence of the Afrikaner: fuck with their hallowed turf.

True Blou, very true. This just reminded me that we are vokken lucky for NOT moving rugby from Newlands to this fancy dandy Slaapstad Poofball Stadium. Once you move there , you get mix up with this politician shite houses and rugby honestly dont need them to have ANY say in our game. Also glad now the Shark Tenk havent been scrapped for the poofball one.

I think the stadium looks pretty good, would like to see a few test matches played there.

Looks pretty yes, but you have to park 10 kms away (no grass for my oxes to grace)and have to catch a train to the venue.

Wont swap it for the 3rd oldest rugby stadium in the world.

This has probably been asked before, but what's the story with the grass at Loftus? The last Bulls game I saw there, it looked really patchy - are they trying something out for the poofball games?

Apparently they started laying new turf and over time the color of the old and new turf will merge.

There is apparently nothing wrong with it underfoot. Must be for the football. Will be interesting to see what it looks like this weekend.
