It's a bit early maybe, but I thought I'd start a thread where we can post who's playing where, and perhaps post season updates and such as the season wears on. As for me, I'll be playing for Macquarie Uni in the 4th division subbies comp. Anyone else strapping on their boots this season?

Were you playing there last year Redsfan? I was propping 2nd Grade for Rouse Hill and we had some good and bad form against you blokes in both grades.

I'll probably front up for the Renegades again this year but look to play Thirsty Thirds and do the administration side of things. My left ankle is really giving me grief in my pre-season workouts and I think I need to see a surgeon and get it addressed.

I only got back to Sydney for second semester last year, so I had a couple of runs in 3rd grade at the tail end of the season. I went out to watch that 2nd grade semi-final, you blokes were absolutely filthy. :lmao:

It's a good comp, I'll be moving to the backs this season after a (short) lifetime in the pack, so probably won't be able to move out of 3rds.

You only got back to Sydney since when? And you call yourself "REDSFAN"? I've done what you've done in a past life and I wouldn't dream of adopting a name like yours.

Get a grip on reality, son.

Back to Sydney since 2008. I've only spent a year there in total, I'm no turncoat. I was born there though, but raised in Brisbane. :lmao:

Playing for Norths in Brisbane. Most likely in the lowest division we field a team for.

Yeah was a very negative experience from a side that had fought its way back into contention. Some of the bad attitude from those guys made me glad my season was over :(

Good luck with the mighty Beacons Redsfan spent 3 years with them myself. Have they managed to find a way to shut Burkey up yet?

As for the topic, I retired (from playing for the Rams) at the end of last season and was looking at managing / coaching a team but won't have the time as I have to take my son to swimming lessons on Saturdays. I plan on attending training though for fitness and to help coaches by carrying tackle bags and the like.

Gordon Golden Oldies again for me this year - and its a World Cup year in Sydney!! If any of you more 'mature' guys fancy pulling on the boots again, dont be afraid. Its great fun, not exactly demanding on high skill levels or fitness and at the WC you'll get to meet and socialise with hundreds of players from across the world. Let me know if you're interested - great bunch of guys at Gordon.

I assume you mean age and not attitude.

In any case, the minimum is 35 right? I'm still a ways off yet.

Riddler, can you PM me some details about the Golden Oldies stuff - could be interested. I'm 42, so i make it easily!!

Cheers mate. As far as I know Burkey is still yabberring away to anybody who will listen. We change our colours this year. It'll be to the uni's new colours: grey, black and maroon. It'll be weird.

Attended our first training session tonight (sat on the sideline like a good supporter yelling out wisecracks) and was impressed by the turnout. We had over 20 grade players which was a lot better than last year and is a good sign as it is still January and it was raining tonight. The coaches said they will concentrate on fitness, ball work and defense in the preseason and will only work on lineouts when the season is about to start. No mention of scrums or mauling which has me a little worried being an ex-forward who loves that sort of stuff.

If you live on the Central Coast of NSW and want to play alongside a good bunch of blokes come along to the Rams.

Well, despite playing three years with this club so far and not getting more than the odd scratch or bruise, in a charity cricket match yesterday I rolled my right ankle and its the size of a balloon. Does not bode well for my season as the left one I'm already thinking needs surgery for ongoing long-term pain.

Does Joe Mathews still play for you blokes. He was a billet of ours some years back as a schoolboy, when he came to Darwin.

Looking to have a run with the Palmerston Crocs up here in Darwin if I can fit it in.

Sorry to hear that Nicko. My boy did the same thing on the trampoline yesterday. Thin crack in the fibula. He'll heal up pretty quick, though, they say.
