So homosexuals (sic) must "repent" or they will go to hell. "Repent", of course, means that they must stop being homosexual (sic). Most civilised people would reject the notion that a person can change their sexual preference.
Folau's a Christian; he believes in and refers to the Bible.
The Bible has been around for a long time and is politically incorrect.
A common theme that many Christians follow is "God loves the sinner but hates the sin".
Therefore, the homosexual person is not a sinner for being homosexual but the homosexual acts are sins.
The big question of course is: is homosexuality and engaging in homosexual acts a sin?
If someone doesnt believe it is then I suppose it isnt.
Its obviously divisive, and thats an understatement, but so are many issues in our society now since the SSM vote first surfaced and then got up.
Take your pick of divisive issues in our society now:
The controversial safe schools program.
Gender fluidity and identity being taught to children with a threat of non-parental intervention.
Transgender women competing against biological females in sporting events.
The exclusion of gender identity on Birth certificates
So-called hate speech with easy access to human rights organisations.
Freedom of Speech and Religion.
Our society has changed significantly with political correctness leading the way.
"Dinosaurs" like Mark Latham, (who has returned to politics as a much more mature person) are leading the way in challenging the way our "progressive" society is heading.
Think what you like about Alan Jones (its obvious he will use any excuse to have a go at RA) but he gets it right sometimes and as mentioned before he was instrumental in supporting South Sydney in their monumental legal struggle and victory over News Limited, and that was a very important legal case in Australia's history. It wasn't just about Souths, RL or sport.
It should be noted that politicians in general came out of the woodwork to congratulate Souths after the victory but were silent and wary of Packer and Murdoch while the battle was going on.
Jones has a lot of clout and is backing Folau. The burdening legal costs could put the stoppers on Folau's challenge but he may get assistance in that area. He's getting plenty of moral support and I assume he'll receive a lot more if this matter continues.
This is not just about Folau posting something "offensive" on social media.
