god what crap.

The ridiculous thing is that I am sure the ABs couldn't give a crap and in fact probably welcome the challenge. Frankly, it makes no sense to try to require that one team is able to perform their psyche up/psyche out, while the other team meekly waits well away from them, watching in silence. It is only that it is such a big part of the marketing of rugby world wide that the typical d*&kheads at the IRB have come up with this stupid rule. The only rule that makes any sense is an absolute ban/instant send off offence if there is any physical contact. Otherwise, should be fair game. Was in fact wonderful theatre and one of the highlights of the Cup for my mind. How the IRB can then denigrate it is beyond me.

At least the Sir Nigel nnobody-Smythes are consistent in this regard. Our Wallaroos got fined a similar amount. The 2 mouth guard incidents both got fined $10000 (US$ I think).

STILL cheating ball swappers get nothing!!!

Livrement should have fined all of the players a bottle of champagne each and forced them to be on the first plan back to France for their behaviour. The issue would have been dealt with by the team and therefore no need for the IRB to step in.

This is absoulte BS!!!

If this is in the IRB rules and regulations, then change the rules and regulations!

I hope the French tell them to get f*&ed. What are they going to do. Kick them out of the IRB? It would then be a disgrace if any other team refused to play them and you would hope for some solidarity from the other union nations.

Georgina Robinson just tweeted ...IRB has confirmed French rugby team fined 2500 GBP for advancing on All Blacks' haka, not 10,000 GBP

I'd love to the NZRFU say that will go half and half with the French....but given they took a loss on hosting the RWC I can't see that happening.

Every IRB nation should be fighting this.
I'd like to see that too. The AB's management have said they don't want the french fined for it

Everyone i know back home has turned around and said don't fine them. The IRB making another money grab are making us sound precious about it when really, everyone i know welcomes some sort of response

when France started marching towards the haka, the crowd started cheering.

That says enough really.

Can someone who knows how to do it start a Facebook Page on this Stupid Fine (If they haven't already done so)?

At the moment there are people collecting money in the streets from the public to help pay the fine. Just like we did when the samoans got fined over the mouthguard incident.

As a 63.5 year old I have probably seen more Hakas than most of you. The first 20 were interesting, the next 30 were tedious, and the remainder hyave been BBBOOORRRIIINNNGGG!!! I respected the Haka until a BC match a few years ago whilst listening to two Kiwi commentaters on ABC Grandstand, we were told "ladies and gentleman, you have just witnessed the new, revised Haka"! Oh yeh...so what happened to "tradition"?? I refused to watch the Haka which preceeded the RWC11 final, but I'm glad the challenge was returned by the French.
I have been accused of being "precious" and "having no balls" by two regular posters on this forum, because I stood up for Quade, and dared to critisize the Kiwi crowds for their " garbage" thrown at Quade and JOC (James O'Connor) (whenever he lined up a kick). And now the NZRU have created a situation where the French have been fined for having the audacity to challenge the Haka!!! What a mob of sooks you are....particular mention goes to Dan 34P and teach, shame, shame, shame.

You are being precious...

It's not the Kiwis who have fined the French, and they are in fact in agreement that this fine is rubbish...

French should just tell them to get fucked. What are the irb going to do - the more they bring it up, the more people resent them.

France hardly needs the help financially - I think the NZRU should make an equal donation to a charitable organisation in the French Rugby Union's name.

I suggest Greenpeace.

Goodness. What happened here?

Hot tip - ranting aginast kiwi's in order to wind up works much much better when we've just lost a RWC...

To be quite honest, what a load of shit from everyone. I don't agree with having to stay back at 10m mark, but the rule has been made. The french knew what they were doing , and IRB after making rule had no option but to fine them. Sorry, but thats all there is to it, if the ABs had advanced all you lot would be screaming for them to be lynched!! As I said I do not agree with ruling, but idiots like Doug trying to say NZRU made the rule is just a straight out and out liar. To be honest if a samoan got fined for wearing an illegal mouthguard, tough shit, so did an english player that everyone seems to forget about in their little rants. And re the ball changing the IRB cannot fine them for something that happens which is covered by the laws of the game. Come on fellas, I know they get on our wick, but the comments on these matters only make the people making them look not very intelligent , surely you agree you have to have rules!!! And Doug, a revised national anthem ie;Advance Australia Fair, still a tradion!

Except Ali Williams has crossed the 10m line for almost every haka this year. The RWC final is the only one I can recall him not crossing the 10m line.

Take a deep breath Dan :)

It's all a great big crock. I am guessing the IRB are worried that fights could break out, and just as importantly the financial value of the spectacle on tv, to wit all the cameras.

Loved the French response, pure magic. Reminded me of this;
