as happy as i am that the tahs made the finals, i cannot help but think that there is another team out there which didn't make the finals, who would've given the blues a better run for their money. i wouldn't be surprised if the bulls were not the greatest fans of the conference system. granted, the bulls only have themselves to blame after a very ordinary start to the season, but i wouldn't be surprised if they wished they would have been able to play the rebels, brumbies and force twice this season.
You maybe right but as a Saffer and not a ref basher I was embarresed with our qouta Le Goete handling of that head butt incident in the Bull Ring. The Tah lost as possible 3 points in that game and that could have get them a home game against the Blues. Not only did the lost a lot of money but also a probable semi spot against the Reds/Stormers.

Is referring to someone as being a "quota" considered okay in SA, because I'd have thought it could be considered demeaning to someone who is just doing their job? Do people cease being "quota" if the don't make errors?

In SA a sheep shagger is much worse then qouta. Qoutas is pushed into a levels they simply cant handle because of their skin colour. Le Goete was degrated from S15 rugby before. Reversed apartheid probably better description for qoutas and BEE.

But referring to someone as a quota is immediately labeling them as not been the best person for the job.. correct?
Who makes this judgement call?

Quota is direct correlation to a certain race, therefore making comments about them not been up to the required standard and they are only there because of there race could be labelled racism?

As long as the qouta system exist in SA sport I haue the right to call them quotas. Its forced on us by the politicians who want the number game in sport by not understand the word merit. Its not something I read or interweb. I experient it in my dayly life.

Sorry PB i didnt mean to suggest you were a racist, its just the south african psychie towards racism and the quota system has always intrigued me, for most south africans i have met they are so abrupts and forthright in regards to there opinon on the topic. Ive played rugby with a few of them and the bus trip coversations have always been an eye opening when talking about there experiences.

Ive watched a few documentaries, including a Louis Theraux? documentary on crime in Cape Town, with a predominant focus on the black population inthe run down areas, its mind boggling as Australia has nothing which even compares.

Yeah, we could have beaten them twice.

I am late 20's and I have watched Super Rugby since day dot. I am your target audience FTV or Foxtel. My thoughts....best season of provincial rugby I have ever watched on television. Is that telling your market researchers something?

Some rugby blogger with too much time on their hands went through and calculated the competition table as if it was played under the old format. So each team in each conference only played each other once (being the opposite game to 2010) and eliminated the 'conference' table rankings. The only thing that couldn't be accounted for was the teams that sides didn't play this year. The Rebels were removed altogether.

The end result? The top four were exactly the same. As were the top six. Just slightly different in order. Cru, Stormers, Reds, Blues, Sharks, Tahs. *Note the 'saders ended up on 36 points vs Reds and Stormers on 32, however they played an extra game as they didn't play Rebels this year. The author of the article neglects that in his praise.

In fact all positions were fairly similar with only 8-12 changing and only by 1 or 2 spots.

While this is obviously not an exact science, it shows that the 2 games against the easy Oz teams had little impact on the comp overall.
