Ah, will start up again tomorrow

Hope you have better luck than this person.

Waratah Faithful

So we have some sad news. The reason this page has been quiet for the past couple of weeks is because we have decided against helping the Waratahs out. We asked the Waratahs for a bit of help in getting the Faithful up and running, which they agreed they would, but they continuously let us down and in the end stopped responding to our numerous emails and phone calls. We wanted to develop a culture around club rugby and the Waratahs and start to really boost crowd numbers at Tahs home games but without the Waratahs HQ offering us any incentive we have decided against putting our time and effort in to help out the Tahs. We will continue to run the page and post updates on all Waratah related news but we will not be present at games and we will not be developing the culture we thought there was an opportunity for.

Your loss Waratahs.

Sincerely,

Waratah Faithful

Not very faithful if you're not going to turn up to games because of this.

Hey guys,

This is a great idea.
This is from the Centenial Parks website RE: BBQ's

"Centennial Parklands offer unlimited picnic spots and free BBQ sites in Centennial Park, Moore Park and Queens Park. These operate on a first-in basis and cannot be reserved without permission of the Trust.
There are a number of picnic sites that can be reserved. Find out more by visiting our Picnics and BBQs page.
Visitors can bring in portable BBQs with legs (except during periods of total fire ban), as well as portable picnic equipment such as tables and chairs. Portable BBQs that sit on the grass are strictly prohibited, as is the dumping hot coals, oil, hot or frozen liquid are prohibited.
Lighting fires and discharging fireworks are also prohibited.
Picnic Bookings are required for groups of 100 or more people.
The above information is paraphrased from the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust Regulation 2009. For the full text and the Regulation in its entirety, visit the NSW Legislation website.

I'm taking the family in on Thursay for the trial game and (weatehr permitting) am taking in a portable BBQ and table and having a BBQ in the park before the game.

So, it looks to me guys like we decide if we really want to do it, and if so go for it. Someone gets a car there early and badabing. I'm not 100% sure what the Tahs are gonna add on top of that, until we show just how fuggen popular it is. Problem is, who the farque is going to either drive home or leave their car there after (can you do that?). Not sure even the Tahs could help us with this point?

I doubt the Tahs will help. I saw this post on a Waratahs fan page on Facebook yesterday.

For the games at the Olympic Stadium, you could use the barbies at Bicentennial Park which is next to the Olympic Park precinct. They are popular on weekends so you would have to get there early. The gates close at sunset for vehicles so you could park in the surrounding streets of Concord West, provided it isn't restricted.

Badger - the 2 Arvo games are on Sundays at 4:00pm at Allianz stadium (SFS) - not Olympic park.

This could be really well supported by 3rd Tier clubs. I still like the idea of Running this out of the Sydney High parking lot.

I'd rather know that the event was going to grass roots rugby.

I will have a look at the cost of hiring some security so that people can leave cars there etc. Hugh Jarse any chance of you reaching out to your mate?

Come to think of it - everyone will probably need to take cars Home on Sunday night (so they can have them on Monday) Best for everyone to car pool and then organise a pick-up or designated driver.

In the past I've noticed a few BBQs in the Moore Park parking area, they've usually been right over on the eastern side next to the bus lane. It looked like the revellers organised for a few cars to get there early and took up a corner spot to make a "private" picnic area. What've we got to lose by doing something similar for the first Tahs afternoon game?

Gibbo's got a good point about getting the cars away after the game. Might have to talk to (ie, bribe) Her Majesty about chauffeuring a few of us home after celebrations.

Thanks for the heads up. They should try an arvo game at Olympic Park if they can get the OK from Fox Sports.

All - awesome to find this discussion thread! I've been chasing Waratahs management for a month now to get behind something like this as well. Sadly, it appears the reason for no response has been a change in personnel. (I have some reliable contacts who let me know)

It would appear we have the numbers and the desire to make this happen - so lets do it! We don't need their support - that can come later.

Gibbo - agree with your point. Let's run it out of the parking lot. It's contained, close to the stadium, and will avoid any dramas with SCG Trust.

I'm happy to be one of the early birds there on the 24th - love my footy, love to cook (I was a contestant on MasterChef Australia this past year), and love to combine the two whenever possible.

I've got some other contacts on the fan engagement side I'll drop a line to (Tah sponsors, suppliers ... might even know someone who knows Tah-Man who I'll invite along). I'll reach out and see if they're keen to partake.

Reckon if we can get 20-30 bodies out on the day, it'll be an AMAZING way to enhance the Tahs game day experience. With those numbers, it's a base to grow future events if there's an appetite.

All in?

Sounds Good Canuck77 - I'd love for someone to take the lead on this.

Happy to matey - do we know anything at Sydney Boys / the parking lot across the way (would be good for me to confirm we're all sweet there), or shall we take our chances and show up on the day? I'll start a FB event page and post the link so we can get that movin ...

Agree and agree.

Random question - saw that you guys posted a poll on the GAGR Facebook page this past Monday. Do you know which app / plugin / software you used to do it? It's SLICK.

It's on this Sunday, Blues at 4:05pm at Allianz. Any progress on a carpark assignation?
