Tailgating is more fun than watching NFL live -- turns out all those ad breaks really suck when you're sitting in a freezing stadium.

The only downside is that someone has to drive.

Not true ! I've recently moved to the USA and went to my first NFL game a few weeks ago , it was AWSOME . I had a passing interest in NFL over the years watching just the Super Bowl and I can honestly say that I enjoyed the game itself far more than I thought I would . I think the problem is with us Aussies is we are pre programmed to games like rugby , league and afl and don't quite understand the nuances of a game like grid iron . It's an amazingly exciting , tactical game , especially live . watching how games unfold and how teams/quarter backs adapt makes for compelling viewing and one of the good parts is for the most part the game actually goes for the allotted time as opposed to a rugby game where the ball is in the actual play for hardly any of the 80 minutes .

Don't get me wrong , I still prefer rugby .

Re: tailgating , it was fantastic k really makes a day of the games. We commented to our American friends that our fun police would never let it take off which is a shame because it's a lot of fun .

Well, I'm a pretty serious NFL fan. I watch about half the games each week. So it's not a matter of not getting the nuances. But there is only about 30 minutes of actual action -- i.e. 10 seconds at the line of scrimmage through to completion of the play. About half the game time is used up by play clock run-off. Which is fine. But there are a lot of timeouts and it takes a minute or two to change between teams for punts, etc.

That's all okay -- and I loved going to the game -- but get back to me when you've sat in the upper bleaches in Buffalo in late December. I guarantee you that beers, bbq and throwing the pigskin in the lot will be more appealing. :)

The SCG trust will oppose it because it will detract from the sales of alcohol pre/during the game. Thats the main reason they dont let you bring any alcohol into games. If you tell them that it will be a dry event and family friendly, maybe they will warm to it. But this is the kind of engaging culture we need at the Tahs! I am in for sure, now to fit the Webber into the car...

If the Tailgate party didn't actually happen at a car and people carried their eskies etc. across the Anzac Parade to the Moore Park West grounds (the ones next to Sydney Boys High School) then you could sit there and eat and drink to your heart's content.

Whilst you're technically not allowed to drink there, it's not like there will be carpark attendants to tell you not to.

In the email I outlined merchandising opportunities as well as meet the injured players/Drew Mitchell crowd pleasers to try and get their buy in.
Still no answer. I'm thinking about a twitter blast to their account. hopeful of a few RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck) from those interested

I do have to give you guys a full credit, as a website for being a bunch of do-ers. Ideas are proposed, then shit gets done.

Even if I lived in Sydney, I wouldn't be able to attend, as I'd have to utter the words "people I know on the internet" to my wife when looking for the green card.

good work though.

Getting back to you after being in the nosebleed section of Mile High Stadium for the Broncos/Chiefs game last weekend. It was cold but it still didnt detract from teh game ;) .

Im off to the playoff game between Denver and TBA.

Feb 15 isn't all that far off.

What is the status of this proposal?

Do we just do it and plead for forgiveness after the event? It would seem that gaining approval may be the more difficult course of action.

Who is in?
