One of the great traditions of American Football is the pre-game (and sometimes) mid-game ritual of Tailgating.
To participate in a picnic that is served from the tailgate of a vehicle, as before a sports event.
The two Dates are Sunday 24th and 31st of March against the Blues and Force.

You can do it classy like at the Races (Strawberries and champagne) or you can do it Texan style with (BBQ and Beer). I choose the latter.

I've sent an email off to Tahs Head office (without a reply) to see if we can get the officially backed. I'll keep trying.

In the mean time - I'd like to gauge interest in getting to Moore Park Early (10:30 - setting up in a corner with any number of cars/utes/4WD and a bunch of Portable BBQs and Esky's. Purchase a group booking of Tickets (el-cheapo) and make a Massive day of it.

I think the Chicken Runners call it the big Brai.

I have seen a few individuals do this from time to time at Moore Park, but it would be good if it became more of an institution.

Makes a trip to the footy more family friendly for afternoon games.

Tailgating is more fun than watching NFL live -- turns out all those ad breaks really suck when you're sitting in a freezing stadium.

The only downside is that someone has to drive.

I'm in, looks awesome.
Can imagine the SCG Trust would have issues with it, cause they're opposed to pretty much everything. But if we kept it subtle, cloaked beers in a G&GR cooler of invisibility, then it's worth a shot. If they shut it down we could just walk across the road to the captain cook... but it'd be better to stay in the park with a 2 year old!

That'd be awesome. You'd likely have to have outside of the SCG grounds (just outside) but it would be fantastic. Would add another element to the game.

I was in England all of last year and this was a regular thing at all the matches I went to at Twickenham. It was awesome. Not a lot of food mind you, but just about as much cold beer as you can get your hands on.

Thanks for the interest guys.... I'm keen to make this a differentiator for Rugby over AFL & NRL in The City

I have been told this is something that occurs on the AFL GF day and has for a while. Sounds brilliant!

If Moore Park Trust/Waratahs go all howly bag about this, then p'reps we should consider doing the same in the Sydney Boys High School Car Park.

A mate of mine was president of the Rugby supporters club there or whatever fancy name the BBQ/Canteen committee is called. He said that the parking fees (only $10 per car I think) go to the SBHS Rugby programme. That has got to be a good cause to support.

It used to happen at Ballymore back in the day. Would be a great idea but I will put $10,000 on the OH&S fun police jumping up and down. NO FUN FOR ANYONE!

at the rebel army v GAGRtahs touch game last year there was a group of guys doing just this. As an aside (and as an aim) they had waitresses in gold lame` hotpants

Technically there is no drinking anywhere on Centennial Trust parklands. The rangers can stop stuff. In reality they will do it if there are problems.

We were stopped drinking in Centennial Park because some arseholes nearby were rowdy, they had to stop us as well.

The thing is, I wonder if the Tahs marketing department couldn't see some advantage in the whole idea. Money? unlikely, actual approval maybe

In the email I outlined merchandising opportunities as well as meet the injured players/Drew Mitchell crowd pleasers to try and get their buy in.
Still no answer. I'm thinking about a twitter blast to their account. hopeful of a few RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck) from those interested

If we get a bit of interest then I'll try a more official approach
