Harbour and Georges River have played twice. The ref stopped the first game and its recorded as no match. Not sure if they get a chance to replay it?
Well it’s currently recorded as No Match so it either needs to be replayed or someone needs to be awarded the win. It can’t be kept as No Result and those sides playing 1 less game than everyone else

Looking at the Div 5 CC table and things are interesting after Valley got 2 wins.

ClubPoints
Hawkesbury Valley1826
Redfield1720
Western Raptors1452
Sydney Harlequins1428
Epping1038
Renegades600
Canterbury586
Maccabi418
Colleagues Convicts300

The two key games now are

Epping v Valley @ Sommerville
Redfield v Raptors @ Redfield

Epping will be throwing the kitchen sink at Valley this weekend, as they're a chance of finals if Redfield beat Raptors convincingly enough.

If my calculations are correct, Valley can lock up the CC with a BP win in 2s and get 2 points in First Grade (draw or losing BP with 4 tries)

Toight.

Do you give Raptors any chance at Redfield? Redfield have been staggering a bit coming into the end of season and numbers have been down. I guess it depends on what Raptors side turns up.
Even with there struggles hard to go past a Valley vs Redfield and Canterbury vs Redfield final in these grades.

Always a chance. Last time out it was 12-7 when a fight broke out and Raptors lost a bit of momentum.

Redfield took 30+ bodies to Valley but it has been a weird year for personnel ins and outs across the board. Lions tour definitely not helping some

I can only imagine this upcoming bye is a welcome relief for most clubs. Some unusual results over the weekend suggest the mass unavailability has hit most clubs, even some Division powerhouses - didn't pick UNSW losing to Irish in 1s and Forest beating Petersham in 2s and Colts a surprise. Drummoyne picking up a bonus point draw v Waverley in Kentwell gives them a small buffer.

Lots of players doubling up across the Divisions and a number of forfeits. Getting to that point in the year where some clubs, players and volunteers have had enough

That, but also school holidays, Lions tour, snow trips etc. have made July a bit shit.

I think at some point, we might need to consider a 2-week break in July for school holidays as a pressure release valve.

I’ve wondered whether it will hurt some clubs especially at the bottom of the table. Having a break and then needing to get up for a one off games when you’re out of contention may be a tough sell.
Ultimately as pfitzy says I think the end of school holidays and the lions tour will help clubs going into the back end of the season.
It’s only Div 5 that has 1 game before finals and the odd quirk of going bye, rd14, ww, semi. All others will have a couple of weeks on the lead up to the Wet Weather before finals.

And if you finish 1 or 2 you might have this:

02/08 - week off Lions Test
09/08 - R14
16/08 - week off wet weather
23/08 - Win Major Semi
30/08 - week off rest
06/09 - Grand Final

could be a blessing or a curse

Subbies aren’t playing this week due to the Lions test, was this a decision by the board or the ARU? The Shute Shield is continuing without any impact?
I’d have assume apart from those going to the game (we’ve had the impact of this over the past few weeks anyway) the ideal situation would be to have clubs play and then hold events at there ground or pub to watch the game.
As mentioned above it’s probably a good time for a break but it does make a clunky end to the year.

Division Two is good for a bed shit this year. Uni delivering another one on the weekend, seemingly gifting Petersham a free pass to the minor premiership.

Subbies I believe - also probably just gives extra breathing space for wet weather games.

Not sure much rugby would have gone ahead anyway :)

Any word on whose hosting the finals?
I assume the Div 1 finals will be at Concord again plus at least one of the lower divisions. I’d assume it will be Div 2 but you could combine some of the lower divisions there and run 4-5 grand finals at the one ground.

Even though Div 5 finals starts earlier all the grand finals for the lower divisions land on the 6th September so there will need to be multiple locations.
