Really, GPS, gordon should be in second spot in colts 3 as uni should have been deducted points for playing an ineligible player.

@The Baz, after this weekend the ladder positions matter little.

Unless The Corporation are kicked out of the competition (highly unlikely) in Colts 3, regardless of whether BuildCorp are docked any points or not, any aspiring Premier will need to win 3/3 knockout games with two of the victories being against Randi-Wix, Highlanders and/or The Corporation.

IMHO the Premier in Colts 3 will be one of the three mobs named above.

Well the Corporation 3rd colts have been hit hard with 15 points deducted for breaking the rules. This pushed Gordon up to 2nd and Norths into 3rd.
A little premature advertising in their newsletter claiming minor premiers in all three grades.....

If he keeps playing Colts 3's, it would be a sign that a dispensation has been given.

If The Corporation are docked points in Colts 3's, it would be a good sign that there has been no dispensation granted.
<snip>

No dispensation then. Penalty is as expected and appropriate.

Club Championship just got a whole lot closer. Woodies, The Corporation and Randi-Wix will be carefully monitoring scores tomorrow as the day unfolds.

No real change to Colts Club Championship. The Gallopers won this about two rounds ago.

OK, so Uni are deducted 5 points for each of the 3 games. Unlucky, but rules are rules.
Question is - whey aren't the 3 results nullified and each team (Warringah, Gordon and Southern Districts) credited with a 28-0 victory (i.e. 5 points to them) ??
Uni are penalised, but why aren't the affected teams benefitting ??
They are the ones that had to play a "stacked" team ??
As it stands, everyone benefits.

Why didn't this Uni Aus A boy play in 2s, 1s or grade? Seems like a massive waste of talent, size and "uccyyynesss" that could've been used elsewhere. From watching and playing in that game, his opposite man in the scrum did not seem to be affected by his presence either.

Rocky Elsom (76)
^^^ Doesn't really matter whether his opposite man was impacted or not in the Gordon game, the rules do not allow a Schoolboy or Schoolboy A player to take the field in Colts 3rds, without a dispensation.

Just browse through any of the Schoolboy rep threads after selections have been announced to see how "wrong" the ASRU selectors are "all the time". It matters little that the ineligible player may have had little impact in the game, or how wrong the ASRU selectors may have been to select the player for the Aust A's back in 2013. The Corporation Coaches may also think he is not the best prop on their roster and not warranting a place in the 2's or 1's. Whether he "deserved" his selection into Aust A is moot, as is his current form or position in the props pecking order at the club. The basic fact is unchanged. He was ineligible.

For all we know he may be the 5th best prop in The Corporations Colts programme, and therefore not warrant selection in Colts 2's or 1's. Not all players carry their schoolboys form into Colts, and someone (@Eyes and Ears I think) has said that he was injured. Many clubs have a graduated return to play philosophy, where injured players start out with limited time in lower grades, ie Nick Batger played 3rd Grade for Woodies last week, and is in the 2's this week; Jarome McKenzie did similar and started 3rd Grade for Beasties, before being named in the 1's this week.

I am mildly intrigued as to how The Corporation actually got it wrong. They are usually very switched on with respect to the eligibility requirements and how to stay on the right side of the Player Points cap restrictions and the like. If he is the 5th best prop in Camperdown then, without said dispensation from the Competition Manager, he should have been in 3rd or 4th grade rather than Colts 3. The possible "slip of the ASRU selectors pen" that saw him named on the bench as an injury call up for Aust A puts him in the same category as Andrew Kellaway, Matthew Sandell, Lachlan Anderson and Jack McCalman - Former ASRU Representatives from 2013. A category that the competition rules specifically exclude from being eligible for Colts 3rds.

The NSW RU Web site says "All Colts finals matches including the Grand Final are at Forshaw Rugby Park."

On that basis, then I reckon that the finals week 1 matches will go something along these lines:

Saturday
approx 3:00 pm Sydney University (2) vs Gordon (5) - Colts 1
approx 1:25 pm Eastern Surburbs (3) vs Northern Suburbs (4) - Colts 1
approx 12:00 pm Sydney University (1) vs Eastern Suburbs (6) - Colts 2
approx 10:25 am Sydney University (3) vs Northern Suburbs (4) - Colts 3

Sunday
approx 3:00 pm Randwick (1) vs Eastwood (6) - Colts 1
approx 1:25 pm Northern Suburbs (3) vs Gordon (4) - Colts 2
approx 12:00 pm Randwick (2) vs Southern Districts (5) - Colts 2
approx 10:25 am Gordon (2) vs Southern Districts (5) - Colts 3 (Back oval ?)
approx 10:25 am Randwick (1) vs West Harbour (6) - Colts 3

It would make sense to move the Sunday games to Coogee Oval (if it is available [IIRC Loig play there on Sundays]). This would reward Wicks with home ground advantage rewarding the Colts Club Champions, and it would free up Forshaw Park for Southern Districts to host a Grade Finals.

Alternately run the 5 "Sunday" games on Saturday at Coogee Oval. Start the "back oval" game early, and tighten up on timings but I don't think all games can be played on Saturday, at two different ovals because of timing and location challenges needed to allow players to get between venues to fulfil bench requirements.

Looks like I was "sort of" right in bits.

This is the draft programme that I believe is "doing the rounds".

Details of next weekend's games (times, grounds, etc) are now on the NSWRU website, but you have to look at the "Draw/Results" for each of the colts teams (listed as round 19).
