Super Rugby Rnd 6: Waratahs v Reds

James GC

Larry Dwyer (12)
Yeah I think that backline for the Tahs is better then last weeks, Jack Maddocks at fullback is better than Mark Nawaqanitawase, I think Mark N (Nawaqanitawase) should drop back to the SS for a bit with some work ons as he is not Super standard at present. I think Perese at IC is his best position he played well there for the reds, if Foketi can't bed down OC I'd like to see what Ramm could do moving in one.

yeah no mentioned of Blyth in the press release...like there wasn't about Stewart a few weeks ago.

I am sure someone will ask the question and we'll find out soon.

Perese never played 12 for the Reds.

Or did I black that out?

Maybe he didn't, I thought he played inside SK for a few games, what I do remember was he pretty much dropped the ball cold on every other back line play. OK all I can say is I'm glad he is playing for the Tahs and not the Reds.

He was a "schoolboy star" par excellence, wasn't he? Maybe he will unleash some of that potential, finally.

He’s shown more than potential. He was excellent for the Reds and toured with the Wallabies. That was a few incidents ago though.

Yeah - his issues were off field, not on it. Good player. Just not clear if he has become a good person.

Don't agree D. Has only had a small time on the field, but while he was there he has been outstanding at lineout time (a core skill) and very willing in both attack and defence.

Don't want to hijack this game thread but I do agree with you. Think he will be a long term Wallaby, was going to be him or Hockings and think HH has blown his shot in the short term. Hoping the Brumbs give Frost a few starts to show what he has got over 60.

On topic.... would be a massive upset if that Tahs team gets over that Reds team. Hopefully the Reds are still stinging as well as embarrassed about their performance down south last year. Bring their aggression andcontinue to improve their combos.

I hope Wallis gets on for some decent time. Thought he has stepped up to every level so far and looked good in a couple trials.

Are both the Tahs backrowers out injured or has something happened?

Reds playing with what I imagine is their ideal backline for the first time. I feel like things are due to click and it be a 20+ margin of victory but at same time the Reds could continue their mixed form and get it done by 3-7 points in another final play type scenario.

Good to see Uru with the start. Will be interesting to see how the team goes without Wilson’s effort and carries early on. His truck like carries to get the team reset when they’re looking to go forward have been crucial at times this season. I really like Uru but he provides a different sort of dynamic intensity.

Not a bad looking backline, as long as they can hold onto the ball

9. Tate McDermott
10. James O’Connor
11. Filipo Daugunu
12. Hunter Paisami
13. Jordan Petaia
14. Suliasi Vunivalu
15. Jock Campbell

Like it a lot.

What is the drum on Kalani Thomas?

Hamish Stewart might disagree with that but I feel his days of first choice 12 are numbered as hunter and Jordan are forming a pretty powerful centre combo, whilst wing and fullback positions pretty cemented in as well.

The only positive for me is the bench choices, they went for the future rather than the safety options

I have no idea how Perese will go @12, but he tackles and runs hard, not sure if it will be sent wide though
