Super Rugby will officially have a player of the year in 2025:

Great initiative that should've been put in place a quarter of a century ago. It's amazing how much low hanging fruit there still is for this competition to grab at a marketing and promotion level.
Surprises me they haven't simultaneously introduced a couple of other awards alongside it - e.g., forward of the year, back of the year. Is try of the year an official Super award?

There have never been any whole of comp awards as far as I'm aware. Them not being included in the announcement doesn't mean they won't happen though, I'd expect they'll be looking to put together a full awards night as part of this.

It'll be a kiwi from the winning team. Probably whoever scored the most tries.

It's the law for these kinds of awards.
It's even votes for every team awarded by the opposition, so it'll probably slightly favour a standout performer on a poor team, which is why I reckon Ardie Savea is so likely.
