[Chiefs] have to face the Killdozer twice inside the first month of the regular season.

- any random Chiefs player in Week 5 of the season.

Bugger that game apparently was live on Sky over here, and some dumb bugger hadn't looked what was on today, because there's no rugby on a Friday at this time of year!!o_O

So with all the talk about pre-season champions, how do the ‘power rankings’ look. I don’t follow the movement if the NZ sides closely enough to make much comment other than from what I have seen the Blues should start favourite again, the Chiefs and Canes will be pretty close too, while the Clan looks like they could have another tough year. Crusaders - I have no idea. It’s hard to imagine them having another year like last year. But given they will have to double up against the above three NZ teams and have away games v the Drua & Brumbies that is a tough draw. I’m not sure JOC (James O'Connor) is still capable of being the player they need in the halves.

On the Australian side the Brumbies still look to have the best roster but I’m not sure they’ve actually improved from last year in terms of players available with Swain & Tua going. If Ala'alatoa, Cale and Lonergan stay on the park maybe that gives them the lift they need but most teams lose 2-3 players during the season at least. So they are going to have to rely on being better. Maybe year 2 under Mowen’s defence is where they can really improve? The Reds should be better. How much better - time will tell. Ditto the Force and the Waratahs but both have a fair mountain to climb.

For me the big movers are likely to be the Tahs (especially in the second half of the season) and the Drua. My opinion on the Drua is honestly not based on anything other than I feel they have all the potential and will continue to climb. But when all is said and done I think the top 6 is likely to be very similiar to 2024.

I’d love an Aussie team to break the NZ stranglehold but can’t say I’m confident.

The bookies have Blues, Chiefs, Crusaders or Hurricanes as their winners with the favourite on a 33% chance, down to around 17% for the Canes

Next batch is Brumbies, Reds, Tahs and Drua, between 5 and 10% chance of winning

Highlanders, Force and Moana Pacifica are outsiders, less than 3% chance

The Blues now have an attack coach for this season, so that should help.

Perhaps more of a 'ball room dancing* on the carcass whereafter the killdozer has passed over', but should bring a bit of pzazz to proceedings nevertheless.

*Because we're classy, unlike the breakdancing Cantabs.

Pfft … bookies - what would they know.
They've got the Crusaders who are coached by Penney much better odds than the Reds....

I know past form dictates you should never rule them out, but even Mouaga didn't want to deal with their crap and is staying in Japan.

You dirty dawg. Don't do this to me.

Brums the most consistent side in Aus but the Reds hold the highest ceiling IMO. Problem is for any of the Aus side is the catastrophic pummelling they cop if they have to play a final in NZ.
