That Waratahs team is fun. I really like the backrow and props.

Brumbies less new toys but will probably be dominant as ever, curious to see if Wilcox can make the step up.

Where's Taniela? Is it a concern that he's missing the last and most instructive trial match? Anyone know how his fitness is coming along?

Pretty much a second XXIII for the Brumbies. Tahs should take the win.

EDIT : Wilcox will add attacking flair anytime he gets on, but needs to tighten his defence and make better decisions about kicking in general play. Don't expect to see a lot of him this year.

On the bench.

Brumbies clearly resting a lot of their first stringers, but still two pretty handy teams. Apart from TT that seems the Tahs best team.

BR - I see your man Declan Meredith is getting a chance at 10 to show his wares. Keen to see how he goes.

Wilcox just needs time. He has obvious natural talent and speed but from an eye ball test just needs to keep hitting the gym for that bit more size. He has the frame to carry it at probably 6'1ish but couldn't be more than mid 80s in kg where low 90s is probably the sweet spot once your against the fully grown men. To do it properly and not increase the risk of injury is take some time with it.

Wonder how long most of the starters get. 50-60 mins for most? Want them gassed enough for the fitness but no need to push limits. Tempting to pull Bell at HT and even Gordon

How does it line up with the 7s circuit? I'd have Harvey 15 and Wilcox on a Wing as a try scoring machine personally. Think Harvey offers more playmaking and opens up the field for guys like Wilcox.

And the Bristol side:

Don't know much about them, but looking at their recent sides it seems to be very 2nd string with a fair bit of academy talent filling the gaps. Pre-season trial and all but the Reds really should be aiming for a comfortable win here.

Bristol have 21 players unavailable this weekend (injury and internationals), and are playing Ampthill in the Premiership Cup on Saturday afternoon as well, after the Red's Friday night game, so have named a very inexperienced side, and have invited 9 local club players into the squad on top of their academy players to make up the 46 they need for both games.

Reds will be strong favorites for this one

That's a 3-4 try at least win for the Reds 'on paper'.

Guys like Daugunu & Campbell should be fed ball against that. Those backrow link passing with Tate could also be a nightmare for Bristol.

Fifty plus point win for Reds expected. Shame Bristol have a tough fixtures schedule this weekend.

That said - this is the benefit of English Club Rugby having 10 (this season) teams - plenty of scope to give up and coming players a chance to shine, rather than our boys holding tackle bags in Centennial Park.

I think I'm right in saying that no-one on the Bristol bench has played a senior game for the club as yet, and only 2 of them are actually signed to Bristol - the rest are invitational players. Real difference in class there

Bloody awesome experience for the Bristol "Ring ins" playing against 11 recent wallabies.

On the Reds side it sounds like a bit of a miss. They used to play a warm up/End of season game against a QPR Challenger team. I can't see this being any higher caliber of football and a lot more $$ and admin for the exercise. Lets hope they get a lot out of the Ulster game.
