Reds just ticked over 16'000 members, Brumbies have 6'000.. not sure where the other provinces are at..

I did a quick comparison of membership prices, only included the standard Adult/Family full season membership as a base comparison.

Adult/Family

WA $200/490 ($170/410)*
ACT $280/675
NSW $120/300
VIC $180/432
QLD $185/390

*WA offered Seated/(Standing)

NSW offered a 2 or 4 game package, ACT and Rebels also offered a 3 game package each.

Thought i would compare some of the other codes packages...

Adult/Family

GWS $195/470(8 Sydney home games)
Broncos $195/700*(12 home games)
Collingwood $180/360 (home and away games at MCG)

*Broncos only offer family packages with Premium/Platinum tickets

-NRL: Broncos are the leader of the pack, they had similar member numbers to Reds in 2011 of 16'000, aiming for 20'000 in 2012.
-AFL: AFL and Collingwood in particular are the outright leaders in terms of memberships; CFC membership numbers were 70'000 in 2011 and aiming for 80'000 in 2012.

AFL membership is slightly different, particularly with MCG. You buy MCG membership for the RIGHT to get access to tickets. Still gotta pay for them. That's why Collingwood has 72000 members yet on a few weeks got 38k to games... I think anyway. Gav etc would know more on the subject

I think that's two different things... MCG membership and AFL memberships are like Suncorp and Reds membership..

MCG probably caps its seating at 15'000 or something...

The Reds package also includes the ability to get up at half time, have a pee, pick up a beer and a burger and get back to your seat before the second half.

MCG memberships (actually MCC) are for the members stand at the G. This gets you entry to everything there, but there are a few restrictions like the AFL grand final goes to a ballot. You don't pay anything over or above your yearly membership to attend any cricket or footy games. Not sure how it works with other sports at the ground. There is a waiting list for MCC membership of about 10-12 years. Not sure about numbers, but the members stand is reasonably large so probably seats 20k-ish out of the total 100k-ish capacity.

AFL memberships are to the AFL members reserve - I don't know much about these.

Club memberships entitle you to a varying number of games and there are different categories with reserved seating, guaranteed finals tickets, etc.

So MCC membership is effectively same as Suncorp Stadium membership, which is reportedly capped at 5'000.

The stadium membership seating at Suncorp is awsome. We snagged a couple of tickets to see a Broncos game a few years back. Second level on the Hale Street side of the ground in line with half way. The view was brilliant to say the least.

I'd say the best feature is the bars/patrons ratio on that level... I've never had to wait In line

The reds used to do memberships in the middle level at either end. This rocked because heavy beer was plentiful and easily sourced. They have not done it in the last 2 years and this year even though they have got over 17k members are still not offering.

I don't see any logic in getting a Tahs membership if you live in country NSW. Even the supporters membership for $40 is pointless... They really should do a Merch Package rather than the supporters membership, that I would buy.

I received the 2012 Tahs membership pack today...membership/ground entry card, lanyard and scarf. Definitely would not be keen to pay the supporters membership of $40 (plus $9.95 transaction fee) for just the membership card/lanyard and the chance to get match tickets and discounted merchandise.

I'll be interested to see how memberships go with Lockyer retiring. Besides Hodges (Who is always injured) and Thaiday there isn't many star attractions kicking round for them.

I've already spent all my money on jerseys, pay tv and beer.

Reds are smashing it. Over 19,500 members now. That would have been a good total match attendance figure a couple of seasons ago.

Platinum membership for the Rebels is in my Chrissy stocking for both me and the missus.

Ok, I live in Melbourne and it was really my only option to get to regular S15 games next year.

But I still felt a little dirty and guilty buying it. Sorry Link! I'll be wearing a Reds jersey when you boys come down south, I promise!

I mans get to get his rugby fix somehow Daz! Even if you have got to go to stinking Rebels games. Just don't join the army. Or Join the Army as a spy and send us all the Rebels inside info!
