What are the odds of 2 stadiums having exactly 30000 and 15000, these seem like very convenient numbers and when I see this I start to doubt if they are true
Yeah but on 3 sites I cross checked they gave those attendances. Dunno why only with NZ games it was such a odd number. But if you check they were 2000 less and 2000 too much with them so total supporters for both stadiums are about 45k more or less

Didn't FIFA convert it to a full seater? To my understanding it is a must for the stadium to be a all seater to meet FIFA's requirements.

Or did they close that off because I notice the capacity said 51k where they filled it up with 55k + 56k at times. Craven stand was 5k if I can still remember it correctly so it would make sense.
Fifa dont play on Newlands Boet, its rugby Holy Ground.

Crowd

oh wow, thanks for all the effort guys.

Does anyone know what the crowd was for the Brumbies v Cheetahs?

Western Force v Hurricanes - 15,768
Australian Capital Territory Brumbies v Cheetahs -
Queensland Reds v Melbourne Rebels - 34,126

And it was the Cheetahs...

Still, the Brumbies need to capitalise on this UC deal and get the students out to games...

I know they've got discounted tix, but they really need to promote it...

It's walking distance from the uni residences too...

First week Brumbies were up against the Canberra Show, next game the long weekend where Canberra turns into a ghost town. The crowds should increase from here on.

should be very interesting to see how the rebels pull. first ever home fixture not on a friday night!

I was moderately concerned they only pulled in 16,491 in the opener. don't know the cheetahs will draw much more than 15k. however a few games against big drawing opposition coming up (notably the blues) should boost the rebel average attendance up. all of the NZ teams and the reds should pull solid crowds.

11k tonight. Christ they were loud but surprisingly low. Maybe 12 losses in a row didn't help. It was a win that they needed and we'll see their home crowds increase from now on. Their crowd could teach the Tahs home crowd a lesson or tow, best home crowd in Aus.

Was a good crowd Friday in terms of attitude, the die-hards. I'm sure they'll get the rest back, considering they're circling 10k members.

Bulls attendances are surprisingly low as they have a stadium that can take more people than the Stormers and use to fill it.

Floptus dont get full houses that often. Only happens when the Stormers/WP plays there, Newlands a sell out weeks before the match when they visit here. Obvious the biggest rivals in S15 rugby.

How are the derby matches over there? I know in football it is big very very big where the supporters taunt each other and want to slap each other silly but in rugby that is not usually seen. I saw Plumtree's remarks. What is the derby atmosphere like in SA?

No rugby derbies in SA is close to the football lot. Paarl is packed with Bulls and All Blacks supporters (mostly in the coloured community) so I do get my fair share of it. It still dont get close to our own Paarl derbie when Paarl Gym and Boys High get stuck into each other. Jean de Villiers (Paarl Gym) and Guthro Steenkamp (Paarl BoysHigh) played each other in the same year and both will tell you it was the match closest to a test for them. Paarl get cut in two for a week, mum and dad wont sleep in the same room if they are in diffirent camps for a week, workers at the workplace dont talk to each other for a week BUT we all share that special rugby spirit of "gees" what we call it to man up after a loss and shake the opponent supporters hand when the end whistle goes. We surely dont go on the rampage like the soccer lot do and in Paarl you only have bragging rights for the saturday night. Sunday we all go to church and start speculating who will win it next year. So we understand rivalry and derby matches pretty well. In SA schoolboy rugby/netball/hockey interschools (thats what we call derby matches) goes all around SA between schools from age group U7 to U18. In Paarl its a weeks derby with old boys/girls matches included. It even have a sponsor.

So derbies in our rugby at provincial level cuts real deep and comes many a mile.
