According to the Saffer media, the only ways the Reds can possibly win is by resorting to cheating and trying to get a Stormers player carded.

The Aussies don’t try to meet the physical challenge of the South Africans, because they don’t have the personnel. But what they lack in brawn and bloodymindedness, they compensate for in brains. And this incorporates play that’s illegal as well legal, because at the end of the day the only man who differentiates between the two is the matchday referee.

The Reds don’t have the physicality to match the Stormers. McKenzie knows that, and as modest and humble as he is, Allister Coetzee knows that. The Stormers coach fed the media a fitting description of the Reds on Wednesday, calling the boys from Brisbane one of the more streetwise teams in the competition. No doubt the Reds will bring some physicality to the Newlands melee this Saturday, but we should also expect some off-the-ball niggle and a fair few tricks

And I though our rugby media was full of crap.

Good looking side there, Morahan will be a lot safer at the back as from memory hes played there before. Harris back in a more familiar position should see him get back to what he showed a few weeks ago.

Concerned about Fainga'a at 13. I think he goes missing when he's at outside.

Still its probably a safer option than giving Harris another go at 15 against the stormers of all teams. You can't very well leave harris out either atm.

More like, it's a safer option than having Digby or Chambers to defend at 13 from incoming JdV and Fourie!

Supposedly JDV has picked up and injury and Juan De Jongh will now start.

@Reddy!
It certainly is a tighter defensive line, though I didn't think Chambers had been a liability in defense this year. I thought he was just generally of the pace after his injury.

He he isn't that bad - but the stormers centre combination is probably their strongest attacking option.

Ant has played well there in club rugby for Souths in the past, he'll be fine.

GC, Keo.co.za can not be seriosuly considered "media".

He needs to spew shit so he can get the rabid masses into a fury and sell advertising on his blog.

The "Real" media like the Cape Argus and the Cape Times appear to me to have been very realistic about this weekend's game.

They are about equally full of crap, having had years of both SA and Aus media.

Apart from the true club rugby fans, we can't really judge Ant on his ability at 13. From memory he didn't play there for the Brumbies and I am almost positive he has never played there for the Reds. He played 13 against the Poms in a very dour affair, although Barnes was the 10 and he couldn't get anything going on the night. In some ways being a 13 may suit his game, although in reality he is probably too small for it to be a long term move. It will also be equally interesting how Harris goes at 12. However if the 'experiment' does not work and Chambers is hastily thrown into the mix it will be very curious to see who gets dragged from the centers.

Poor Benny Tapuai looks like he has been jumped on the log without having even had a chance at 12. Cookie crumbles and all that.

It probably wasn't the backline I would have selected, but now that I look at it - it is probably the best available for the task at hand. This is why Link is the coach, and I am a punter. I hope he never becomes Wallaby coach and he continues molding this side for the next 10 years. Anywho, back to my perch.

But the Force are card magnets! that's not our fault. Reds 4 Stormers 3. Seems pretty even to me.

Actually its fairly complimentary in a way.

Enough of the SoetPiel PB! At least it reaches the ocean!! ;)

As far as the game this weekend I do believe it will be closer than what most people believe. Stormers feel like a team that will grind it out without ever running away with it so it will always be edge of the seat stuff.
