Stupid play either way, really. If you put yourself in a position where you are kneeing an upright bloke in the face at speed you are rolling the 'ol dice.
I agree he put himself in a dangerous position, but is you want to be finicky it was his thigh the fella run into not knee. I agree though he put himself in dangerous position, and so will maybe make players be careful when going for a charge down. Will we have to say you can only jump to a certain height? Genuine question, and could be something that is looked at.
And I will be honest I said when the ref first stopped play, I yelled at TV , because I thought he was looking at MP (Moana Pasifika) player for taking Clarke out in the air  :(. But then realised what it was for, and as I said probably right call.

Best that can be hoped for now is that the biomechanics experts help commonsense prevail, as happened with Jordie last year.

EDIT: Though Clarke seems the type to just say he was at fault from the start, so who knows.

Genuine question: would Rieko have shovelled that on to his winger like a proper centre, or gone hungus glory mode like a not-a-real-centre?
Goddamnit I think I know the answer to this one and I dont like it.

Spare a thought for TJ, stuck in Auckland and consigned to the booth having to commentate 2 Auckland Blues wins in the space of 5 days. The emotional strain of such a woebegotten undertaking will have taken years off of his life. Oh well, at least he will have managed to find some moments of solace amidst the unconscionable and sickening Blues resurgence by getting to heap praise on Luke Romano now and then.

^ M'Lud Cyclo, if it pleases the Court I beg that you direct the witness to answer the question, the tangential points he raises are somewhat interesting but ultimately irrelevant in terms of whether Mr Ioane would have shoveled the ball on like a proper centre or gone hungus glory mode like a not-a-real-centre. Tis a straight-forward question deserving of a straightforward reply if I may make so bold, M"Lud Cyclo.

*Cyclo directs Dismal to answer the actual question. Chaos ensues.*

The end on camera angle isn't going to look great for Clarke - it looked like he jumped into the running line of the MP (Moana Pasifika) winger - rather than just straight up.

I'd really like to see Evans start next week with Rieko outside him - he looks a really promising young 12.

He looked ok, but have a feeling Heem will get the gig again. Be interesting to see who get Caleb's spot on wing, I guessing he will get a week or 2.

Anyway hope it's as nice in Wellington as here in the Naki today, getting ready to head down to me and WOB's old stomping ground then down to Canes game this arvo. Have to leave the prodigal behind as he was coming, but is in PN hospital.

ha, WTG guy just turns up and instantly looks to the manor born.

Blues won 5 in a row now even factoring in switching off once they get a bit of a lead.

In the Tana/Kirwan era they would have lost maybe 4 of those 5 **GUARANTEED**.

Was hoping to get down those ways myself at Easter but with the Covid situation at work it's practically impossible to get leave approved :(

Gunna be a netball scoreline if they keep this up...

Edit: Dan got his wish, it's a cracker day in Wellywood & crowd looks fairly decent. Hard to beat Sunday arvo footy.

Kane Hames is such an excellent commentator. His scrum insights and specifically the failings of Bazza Pickerill to correctly adjudicate the stupid things would have had @Pfitzy bug-eyed and motioning for the lotion.

Rousing comeback

Has Bazza Pickerill ever seen a forward pass? I was 100% certain that PSG pass for the Chiefs try would get pulled back. But no one said anything.

Canes attack alignment was peculiar. They seemed to be trying some sort of 2nd man feint then a quick ball to an adjacent runner. Didnt work.

Jordie seemed fine at 12. Defended well against All Airport XV incumbent 2nd 5 Mr Quinn Tupeaua. A calm enough introduction to the position for him against that overhyped plonker.

A good friend of mine and fellow scrum professor said as much on Twitter.

Without the lotion bit.

I'll watch the game back at some point and see how much young Kane has to learn ;)

When in the match was the scrum analysis? I don't think I can listen to a lot of Ken Laban at one time searching for it.

I have seen the one where the Chiefs snotted the Canes at 15:40
