Sounds all a bit Reece Hodge-y to me. Jordie is great but crash ball he is not. Just whack his legs and he goes down.

Jordie was a standout 12 at schoolboy and U20s - that was seen as his position.

He's played 12 at Super Rugby before - last time he played 12 he won man of the match.

Obviously haven't watched games at NPC (for Canterbury) andsuper when's he's played there, he was very very good at reaching those long levers through tackles and off loading. Not saying he will kill it still, and maybe not a crash ball mercchant, but he pretty skilled player. Every crash ball merchant if you whack his leg he goes down anyway. Bloody good match up against Tupaea and ALB partnership for Chiefs.

Looks like duck-shooting season has arrived a month early down CheeChee ways...

Edit: conditions actually look better now than half an hour ago.

... wouldn't you agree, Doris?"

"Oh most definitely, Derek, absolutely".

^ Sure are & sure is, Dan. Also, whoever programs the machine that predicted CruSadists by 24 has got rocks in their head. 23, tops ;)

Clutch Cargo makes his CruSadist debut...

Tables have turned scrum- & lneout-wise, the longer this stays close the better Clan must fancy their chances.

That Zach Gallagher is a pretty big ol' lump inn'he.
What an absolutely medieval lump of munter.

Fairly drab match of rugby football.

Landers had them there for the taking yet were bereft of ideas.

How did TJ go? I muted him in favour of the Japanese commentary. The lads could've been reliving the push through Burma for all I knew. Still made more sense than TJ's ceaseless barracking of his hometown heroes.

Really not much in it. Match lost by feeble shonky kicking c/o DCI Arnott.

DCI Arnott; pictured here rueing yet another shitty kick of the rugby football.

Mitch Hunt having a mare certainly cost the Clan tonight. Fakatava looks to be getting hos confidence back after his injury. Frizzell is going bloody well, as is Mikaele-Tu'u ditto Nuggett and Gilbert.
Fpr the Crusaders I have to say Barrett is in good form this year, but they don't seem to be getting any worse are they, still bringing through young fellas everywhere.o_O

Codie Taylor seems to have fallen off like Julian Savea did after RWC 2015. He's a completely different player - and I'm not sure is among the top 4 hookers in NZ right now (plus Dane Coles when he's back).

Fakatava appears to have the best ceiling of any AB 9 at the moment. I cannot stress enough how defenses have changed the game. The 9 has to be a) physical and b) a running threat, 2 areas that Aaron Smith, for his kicking and passing excellence, is poor at. Outpassing a rush will not work unless there is a checking force in the middle, and every checking force is enhanced by a 9 that can run. But if there's one area Fakatava needs working on, it's his kicking, especially the box.

While everyone, myself included, loves Will Jordan's running game, defensively he looks very frail, and I worry about his top-end high ball ability against the likes of Freddie Stewart and Hugo Keenan.

Finally, I quite like Fletcher Newell. He's a strong fellow, and he runs well. We need that because the other AB props are not good carriers. You only have to look at Joe Moody now. What's missing is a little bit of old-school Owen Franks aggression.

I would like to see both Leicester and Caleb Clarke back into the AB set-up for that left wing spot. In fact, there are only 3 players I will consider for that spot - the 2 of them and Reiko. I don't see Jordan and Reece at 11, they are 14s - namely they are not going to get that crash ball off first phase into heavy traffic.

Highlights

Thought Klein had screwed the pooch big-time so big ups to CruSadists for getting home & Hunt I'd imagine is still replaying that overcooked touch-finder in his head, wondering how it went so horribly wrong...

ESPN stats show Frizell made 6 tackles and missed 6 tackles.

Meanwhile Blackadder made 24 tackles and missed 1.

As good as Frizell's ball running was Blackadder outplayed him and was the best Crusader on the park.

Agreed that Codie Taylor is really not playing well - form wise Samisoni has completely lapped him.

I hope De Groot is ok after that cheap shot by Klein. Another needless head injury after Paea dropped Josh Goodhue on his head last week.
