Your 1st 5 should be cleaning out on short ball plays. Watch Carter he does it quite a bit each game particularly when Nonu takes the ball into contact.

It should happen occasionally, but for about a 10 minute period there I noticed that Quade was the first one to far too many breakdowns.

Regardless, I think there is something seriously wrong with the Wallaby forwards. They hardly ever look to really get stuck in at the breakdowns. They are either too slow in getting there, and when they do get there they aren't physical enough. A classic case I noted down was at about 47:20 where the flankers put on an aggressive, dominant tackle on the Bok halfback after a scrum, driving him back 3-4 metres. The next forwards should have been piling into it and they should have won the turnover, either outright, or earned a scrum, but instead the arriving forwards just stood off and watched. Take a look if you have a recording.

Last thought:

Have just seen the replay of the Timani YC -- that's terrible. He didn't even make contact with JdV, let alone with his shoulder. The "leading" shoulder went right over the top. I think the Frenchman really lost control of the game on the discipline front (didn't think he was too bad otherwise, TBH).

I'm not so sure. He clearly just dived straight on top of the tackled player, which is illegal in itself, and potentially dangerous. The fact that he made contact with his own player first is a mitigation only. I can understand a YC for that. I know that won't be a popular opinion around here.

Don't disagree Dam0 and it's been a problem for a while for OZ tight 5 play.

They don't "hunt" together in 2s or 3s sniffing out opportunities to drive in at the breakdown and consistently take advantage of their attacking opposites not committing numbers or being short out wide.

Two things in my view - coaching at all levels and fitness.

Quade didn't get one for his intentional knock down so by your logic SA should've had one less too. The other calls were tough but it's certainly not where the game was lost.

Pumped for the decider on the highveld.

Quade a knockdown wasn't that bad at first look. I agree about the game lost. We would of lost no matter what.

Jesus wept Shiggins, we all know you have a series of bitching about the ref lines ready to cut & paste, but if you think he had anything to do with us losing that game, you watched a different game to everyone else.

We were belted by a better team, and played like a subbies side into the bargain. Need a new start in the pigs.

Piggies just not up to it today.

Inaccurate and lazy at breakdowns.

Flatfooted forward runners.

Did Simmonds play?

Fingers lived down to my very low expectations of him.

Mowen is not an 8.

Alexander should stop whining and focus on playing,

We can't kick- Get AFL in.

We can't catch a high bomb - Get AFL in. Get one of those kicking machines that they have in Gridiron, and put a 50 ball magazine in it and put it on fully automatic.

We do not communicate in defence. - Get a Speech Therapist in. Either we are not talking correctly, or not listening, or both.

Really happy we kept the gap to less than 40 points.

Score line was about right for the dominance the Saffers had and our inability to score - credit to Saffer pressure and defence.

It is going to be hard to award a 3-2-1 MOM without being cynical.

There were some very ordinary performances out there tonight.

We've Still got the Puma trophy Bairdy..

Dozed off after kick off and missed the first 40. From reports that was a good thing to do.

I'd like to see Fat Cat get a start next week. Didn't like too much of what the tight 5 delivered in the 2nd 40.

Timani card was just stupid stuff and Fainga'a bombed a huge chance with the crooked throw. We should've won that half given the Boks were a man down for 20.

Sadly it seems Izzy didn't master left foot kicking during his AFL stint.

Thought To'omua looked good when he came on. Is he a chance to swap with Lilo next week?

You mean call one of the retired AFL guys home? :D

I think Rocca may be retiring from the NFL soon...

What was the purpose of that effort by Quade Cooper in the 2nd half where he walked up and did his stepping dance to beat one tackler, just like he did to RugbyReg in the video, only to have the next tackler nail him.

Quade, stuff that looks FIGJAM inside the training cones seldom works on the big field at Test level against fired up opponents, especially when you give the defence a week to orient themselves as you set up the move.

The X Factor miracle stuff may work in Soup, but just play some conventional team plays first please.

Very poor from all of the wallabies. I just have no idea how a group can have no will to attend to their own (obvious) deficiencies.

Have a bit of pride in yourselves guys and practice (and stop saying "something that we talked about" - it sounds cliched and fake given your performances).

Wallabies will struggle to do well in Argentina and if they win will "talk" about positives when the reality is that these guys are extremely sorry examples of professionals.

Our forwads are trying to create a turn over ball at evey break down. In most cases over committing. Consentrate of slowing the ball and getting the small things right. Its not that fucken hard....

Hooper need to smarten up to, he is our best pilfer on the team. But needs to learn when to take his chances. He will get a few good ones through a game but that's about it.

When White went off the kicking dropped off.

Glade cooper is defending very well for his standards and hopefully it will help in growing some confidence.

Finally the standard of these international refs are just spot on. The French ones are all class too. Really know how to control the games...
