Probably for the same reason the Waratahs had a South African lock a couple of years ago.... because they could?

I didn't agree with that either, but at least there is more coverage for locks with some 6s able to play in that position. Scrum half is a specialist position and we need at least 3 able to play at the highest level.

Whats stopping the NRC playing 2 games in a week they are all on contract after all aren't they?

I.e Wednesday night/Sunday night

Been on a contract doesn't stop physical fatigue, soft tissue injuries and mental fatigue.. play 2 games in a week and witness a disproportionate number of injuries

This is an interesting one thats often confused me.
Some people pay alot of attention to that.
Then i look at Hooper and he plays 80 minutes most weeks for most weeks of the year.

Maybe we just have to trust the sports scientists, Dave. Hooper is probably an outlier.

Although players in the French Top 14 and the Aviva Premiership play 26 and 22 round respectively, plus the European Club Challenge concurrently, plus 6N tests. Both Top 14 and Aviva are significantly more intense than NRC.

And our best 9 didnt even play soup.
So we dont give young kids a chance coming up, and we parachute players in as well.
Need a pathway.

Who is the best nine?
As a matter of interest I have heard that this idea of Eddie's is a goer within the ARU: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/u...xe-two-super-rugby-teams-20161224-gthm2u.html

For my money, if they did axe those 2 franchises it would make the Shute Shield and Premier Rugby even more important and, therefore, worthy of support.

What a schemozzle SANZAAR is. Too many disparate self-interest groups - at least some of whom have mutally exclusive self-interests.

Get a Perth and a Melbourne team in SS?;)

Because the SS guys have real jobs.
The amounts they receive to pay NRC might get them a weeks holiday somewhere cheap.

But he doesn't play more then one game a week, at worst he may have a 5 day turn around.. Ironically the AFL already have a minimum 6 day turnaround rule for clubs and so will the NRL when the 2018 broadcast agreement takes effect..

2 games in 4 days is not the solution to this shit fight

Jeez you could replace 'SANZAAR' with any number of rugby bodies in australia and that statement would ring true...

All I was referring to was the state of origin theory of backing up 48 hours after.

I don't think having jobs is the issue here as in NRC 1 they were able to play Thursday nights and it would be expected they would be available on the weekend I assume.
