Crap - its January where do they (Manly) replace the players they are losing?
What happens next year? No one will want anything to do with anyone who might be a Brumbies prospect... and so it will grow

The Brumbies made this announcement two months ago...

How long until the Shute Shield starts?

I'm sure there are players they can promote from lower grades, or bring in from elsewhere...

Sigg, for one, was a vital part of their team as I understand it - perhaps 2012 captain?
Presumably everyone is committed to clubs for 2012
if the lower grade players were up to it they wouldnt be playing lower grades
And you have to remember that Uni have corralled nearly all available talent from the Tahs

Sigg had only just returned to Manly after a season with Parma...

How did they cope without him?

To be honest...

Don't care.

Im not interested in the Shute Shield, but have always had a soft spot for Manly because they've produced two of my favorite Wallabies in Willie O and George Smith.

But the comments made by their new President are offensive, and I won't be shed a year if they struggle.

Why are Canberra supporters so insecure? Your schoolboy comp was destroyed by the Eddies regime, which according to this forum was led by, the most incompetent and hated coach in schoolboy history ( doesn't matter that he is probably the best). This insecurity is further manifested in your criticism of Canberra developed players playing in the Shute Shield. Who are these players?

In his first couple of games he played in the backs in 2nds. He came to the club in 2007 feom Easts due to advise from his uncle Bede.
Secondly yes I do love the Simpsons and whenever I read one of your posts I wonder whether you are having a Cobra's moment. Same goes for the rest of the people from the ACT and anyone who cheered on GS from down there. I wonder how locals have actually played for the Brumbies?

If you're wondering how many?

Quite a lot...

Sure, but I don't see what relevance it has to this discussion, or this thread...

Some off the top of my head: Gregan, Roff, Larkham, Kafer, Didier, Caputo, Shepherdson, Sweeney, Zammit, Salvi, Coleman, Fainga'a (x3), Hegarty, Kimlin, Henjak, Giteau, Vanderglas, Edmonds...

Not including Wallaby locals pre-Brumbies, or locals who went on to play with other teams, or those players who came interstate and played club rugby before playing with the Brumbies...

Randwick coaches 2012

1sts John Maxwell and mark ella
2s Alan Wright (assistant not named yet, Tim Kava mentioned)
3s Matt Bowman (assistant rumored to be Grant Houldsworth)
4s Joe Picone and Bill Davies

Only one coach from grade has survived from 2011. With last years 1st grade and club coach, Craig Morrison now 'director of coaching'

The players like Coleman, Hooper, Smith and Owens would be considered starting 22 players and will not be playing any form of club rugby. Manly should have planned for this last year and "Hole in the Club' theory wouldn't exist. I'm sure if the President rings Hooper and ask him to present jerseys or speak at a club function Hooper would do it. The club can still use the players name and images for their marketing needs.

The rquirement for players to play club rugby in the province they play for is not new. Qld and NSW have always enforced this requirement and the Force have tried it in the past. The Shute Shield did't collapse and will continue along supported by the diehards.
Tahboy's statement on spending money to develop a play and lose them to a Canberra club happens every year in Sydney. Just ask Manly where Jono Owens comes from.

i dont think it matters all that much but I'd be very surprised if Manly could use Hooper in any official marketing if he isnt playing for them - that seems to be part of the point of the brumbies enforcing the "rule": they dont want them travelling back to sydney
